I have been enjoying the past few days on my summer house once again, spending most of the time on the beach or drinking and eating. It's a great place to spend August, while all vacation rentals are super expensive due to the peak of tourism. I'll just wait for mid September to visit an island or something when everything is super cheap, yet the weather still feels like summer :)
Anyways, holidays or not, shit posting must continue so I brought with me some of my recent silver acquisitions from Venezuela to show off. Some real venezuelan money, not the hyperinflation bs they have these days!
So let's start with a 2 Bolívares from 1960s. Let's see the coin:
On the front we have a portrait of a sexy old dude, Mr. Simón Bolívar:
Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar y Palacios (24 July 1783 – 17 December 1830) was a Venezuelan military and political leader who led what are currently the countries of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia to independence from the Spanish Empire. He is known colloquially as El Libertador, or the Liberator of America source and more info
This side reads BOLÍVAR LIBERTADOR for Bolivar Liberator
Let's see the other side:
Here we have the Venezuelan Coat of arms, the value, the date and something I have rarely seen in other coins. The weight and fineness of the coin!
Specifically, it reads REPÚBLICA DE VENEZUELA 2 BOLÍVARES 1960 GR.10.LEI.835 for Venezuela Republic 2 Bolivares 1960 10 grams 0.835.
So, that's exactly 8.35 g of silver! Easy math 😂
Let's now see the edge:
Nothing special here!
As always, a bit more info from numista:
With current silver prices, this coin has about 5 $ worth of silver. I wonder what I can buy with that in Venezuela. Maybe a house? 🤔😂
