What's up plebs?!
It's been a while since the last time I shown a silver coin from Germany hasn't been? :p
So let's see what I got for you this time:
It looks like we have a coin dedicated to some old dude called Albert Schweitzer. Never heard of him before so I had to Google him.
The tldr version is that he was a German theologian, organist, philosopher, and most importantly, a humanitarian doctor born in 1875. Among other things,he challenged traditional views of Jesus and dedicated his life to serving others.
He is probably best known for establishing a hospital in Lambaréné, Gabon in 1913 where he treated countless people for decades and for earning in 1953 the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work. Not surprisingly, he donated the money to a good cause, specifically research for leprosy.
Sounds like a good chap. Here's a link to Wikipedia if you want to read more on him!
Ok, time to flip the coin:
As is always the case with commemorative marks, we get the denomination, minting date and a unique design of the angry imperial chicken. I like this one 😍
And as always we get an engraved edge:
It reads
EHRFURCHT VOR DEM LEBEN
For
Reverence for life
Although not a direct quote, this phrase encapsulates Albert's overall life philosophy.
When it comes to silver we have the usual recipe for a 5 mark coin. 11.2 g of 0.625 purity.
Here are some more boring sending semantics from Numista for anyone that gives a shit:
Issuer Federal Republic of Germany
Period Federal Republic (1949-date)

All in all, yet another commemorative piece from Germany. However thanks to it I got to learn about a great guy!
Plus, Albert looks like a badass cowboy don't you think? 😂
