I was just checking my emails and I got one from westminsterinternationalshop.com informing me that the Royal Mint of UK has prepared the designs for the first UK coins to feature a portrait of... His Majesty King Charles III on the coin obverse. Lol.. His majesty 😂 Sounds so wrong.

Anyways, that was fast, not even a month since the undead Queen died 😂

To be fair, they don't look that bad!

I am not much of a Charles fan and the price for the silver pieces is imo ridiculous...

Still, if you are interested they are available for preorder.. If you are in a hurry though you will have to wait while:

The Royal Mint has advised us that this item will be ready to despatch in February 2023

The reverse features a design by John Bergdahl and The Royal Mint, with two new portraits of Queen Elizabeth II

As for the second design:

The reverse features the 1953 Coronation Crown design by Edgar Fuller, modelled by Cecil Thomas

Once again Eli stealing the thunder from Charles 😂

So what do you think? Will you preorder any?

Me, I am not interested much so no, especially at those ridiculous prices. I am sticking to the good ol ones with Eli the sexy.

The Royal Mint got the first nod to Chuck's noggin as I expected, every mint would have required permission anyways in order to acquire the official likeness.
I'll wait like the rest of the Stacking plebs for the regular BU 2023 Britannias and Maple leafs.

I wondered what the Britains would do if Charles die right after the circulation of new coins 😂 That would be fun to watch! I mean at some point people should observe that spending huge amounts of money for royals in 2022 is ridiculous.

That's a great opportunity for a historical silver piece. Royalty always pays sooner or later, thus probably this would be a good opportunity if the supply is not too high.

Got to be honest though, lots of laughs coming in some of the Australian FB groups that sell coins. Someone posted a 20 cent piece the other day with photoshopped ears coming out of it - announced as new portrait. I got a good belly laugh from it.
