You know how I love reading and sharing all those crazy coin auctions that go for wife changing money and today's post is one of those stories.
Well kinda. Instead of a coin we have a numismatic novelty. A graded cricket to be more specific.
Yes a fucking graded cricket. In a PCGS-slab. It went for about 6000 $, which may not be wife changing money but hey. It's just a random cricket. Not bad 😂
But how did a cricket end up getting encapsulated in a PCGS slab?
One day in the grading room there was a cricket whose chirping was irritating the graders — and after a ‘search and destroy’ mission, they found the cricket, but instead decided to ‘slab’ it!”
Later in October 2021 the cricket was auctioned and sold for $5,906.25
The item did came with a warning to potential buyers
“Please note: the cricket remains are very fragile and may break into additional parts in the future,”
As for the grading...
“a solid MS-65 Full Head (Detached).”
Lmao !
Anyways, this is the quick backstory behind this hilarious... numismatic item 😂😂
Here's a link if you'd like to read more on the story.
Now that's a great piece for any coin collection. As someone who loves animal themed coins I'd definitely fall for it...If I could afford it with ease 😂
