Sports are key to a child's development

Growing up, sports were key to my development. I played most sports causally and ran track, played soccer and basketball as part of my upbringing. Watching and playing sports was important to my upbringing, and has many positives for kids today.
As a father myself, my children have been involved with sports since a young age. I played backyard basketball with my son at the age of 18 months and we watched the NFL since he was a baby. The importance of sports in children's development cannot be overstated, particularly in an age of screen addiction.
Sports gives structure to children. Sports has rules and involves strategy. A coach will hone their team and teach them to be resilient. He will also make sure they are respectful to opposition. Martial arts is particularly focused on structure and respect and may be a great sport for growing children.
Sports sets children up for a lifetime of physical fitness. It's key, especially as we age that we be involved with physical fitness. Getting used to moving at a young age helps kids understand physical fitness and integrate it into their daily lives for decades.
Sports are a fun and positive activity for children. Screen addiction is real, and it's unhealthy. Kids need to run around and a structured organized sport is alit more wholesome and fun than staring at a screen watching vapid shows all day.
Sports imparts disciple that kids need in everyday life. Being able to navigate a field, show up for practice and build strength and skill is key to success later on in life. Martial arts and gymnastics help children to understand the basics of discipline in completing tasks and this will translate into workplace success.
If you have children, consider enrolling them in sports. It has a lot of benefits and the sooner the better. There are causal leagues, church leagues and neighborhood leagues that will make a positive impact in their lives.
