Happy Fungi Friday everyone! Today, I would like to share a few more images of spores collected from summer fungal species collected from western Michigan, USA this year. I continue to refine my microscopy and imaging techniques to try to begin building a catalogue of spores that correspond to the various fungal species I encounter on my hikes through the woods, dunes, and riverbanks of my beautiful state.
My setup is still fairly rudimentary, and my equipment is not the best, but I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of images I am able to obtain from such a modest set of equipment and a few free software packages. I was lucky enough to sell some of my Hive balance when the price began to spike on Sunday evening of last week and am planning on putting those profits towards purchasing a higher quality camera for my compound microscope. Hopefully the increased resolution will help me capture even better images of spores yet to be collected.
I hope that you enjoy these images of spores! It amazes me that such beautiful organisms spawn from such modest beginnings. Happy Fungi Friday!
