Voting for witnesses is a very important part of creating and maintaining an environment on the Hive Blockchain that serves the community and it's growth. Here's an unusual opportunity you have to make a big difference, even if you only have limited Hive Power..
As you may be aware, the Curangel group, fronted by Pharesim and Azircon has essentially cancelled my Hive account, that I spent 5 years building. They have decided (without proper explanation) to use millions of Hive Power to automatically downvote everything that I post - regardless of it's value to Hive or the Hive community. Clearly this is against the spirit of Hive and also of how people would generally treat others. I have not broken any rules or common norms on Hive.
As part of the response to this challenge, I was proxied a substantial amount of Hive Power in order to help counter the situation. I have used this to make changes to the top 20 witness list and removed one of the heavy downvoters from the Top 20 for some time. This has the effect of greatly reducing the amount of Hive they extract from the reward pool and also limits their ability to restrict the voices of other Hive users that for whatever reason make them uncomfortable.
One of the ironies of this situation is that a minority of people try to frame the situation as one where the recipient of the downvotes is just a whiny weakling, but in reality the downvoters are the ones so threatened by words of other people that they go out of their way to attract negative PR just to try to silence the speaker.
At present, Pharesim - who is the head of Curangel - and who has 100% knowingly supported the constant downvoting of my account since October 2021 is on the verge of being ejected from the top 20 witness slots. This is in no small part due to the exposure he has received for playing his part in this whole mess. He will be removed from the Top 20 if @someguy123 receives a few more votes from the community - so please consider voting for him.
Someguy is heavily involved in the maintaining of the software that keeps Hive running and is also responsible for a lot of the hardware that runs Hive, so he is extremely invested in Hive and to my knowledge has never set a foot wrong in how he has treated the Hive community.
One whale upvote for him is all that's needed to correct this situation and minimise the harm that Curangel can do to Hive in the future, so please consider voting for Someguy123 and passing this post on to your friends.
