If there is one thing that made me enjoy this weekend so much, that would be the samgyeopsal I had with a very close friend of mine. Aghh, women's cravings are really different when their menstrual cycle is near. Lots of food comes to mind. Well, I've been a very good girl this week so I believe I truly deserve to eat what I want. As you know, I did a lot of work, I was able to fix some academic matters and even to my son's stressful situation in school. Let me share you what happened to that in my next blog but for today, let me just share you what makes me so joyful after a really draining week.
Right after I attended an online webinar where I was a head of technical committee, I immediately went to my friend's house and asked her if we can eat samgyeopsal. At first, I was having some second thoughts to have lunch because my money was not enough and I can't see myself having a bill shock. So while I was waiting for her to fix herself, I took a few minutes to browse on Facebook and see if there is a cheap samgyeopsal near our area. Fortunately there is! And just one ride away from her house. So since our stomachs were looking for food, we decided to rush to that samgyeopsal restaurant.
Since the restaurant offers a very cheap price of samgyeopsal, we already set our expectations. Some dishes would be limited even if they say the meat is unlimited. Okay, the first thing I noticed was the restaurant is an open store unlike the other samgyeopsal where they are fully air conditioned. If you ask me, I would like to eat at a restaurant that is fully air-conditioned, especially when it's summer because I don't want to get greasy while cooking as if my oil and sweat will mix. So yeah, that was the first thing I observed in this place.
Secondly, they are using a portable samgyeopsal stove. Good thing they've installed a small lpg tank below our table unlike the other portable stove that uses butane spray gas. I just don't like the grilling pan because it was not a non-stick pan and the meat can get burnt real fast.
It also took a few minutes before the staff brought us meat. The side dishes were brought to our table first and then the red tea as our drink. Anyways, it's okay because after we waited for a few minutes, we were brought one plate each of the available flavors of meat. The first meat I got amazed was the Enoki mushroom pork. That was my first time trying it and I never believe that the taste is so winning for me. For those who don't know, Enoki is just another type of mushroom. It tastes a little sweet and so crunchy if you eat it fresh. So this just rolled in thinly sliced pork with pepper. I tried to cook it for about 3-5 minutes only and it was so yummy! I love to dip it in cheese.
The other meat included in our meal is the salt and pepper flavor, barbeque and spicy bulgogi pork. Nothing special but I still do appreciate the good taste of each flavor. I picked spicy bulgogi next to my favorite enoki. For the barbeque flavor pork, it's a bit difficult to cook because the slices are too thick. For the salt and pepper pork, I like to dip it in their Gochujang or chili soy paste.
When it comes to their side dish, they also gave us kimchi, fish cake, potato marbles, sweet bean sprouts and carrots. Not a fan of fish cake so I just let my friend eat all of it. what I like in all the side dishes was the potato marbles. I am not sure how they cooked it because of other samgyeopsal that I ate before, these baby potatoes where just cooked in a sweet soy sauce. But here, their potato marbles taste something different and I really like it.
My friend and I had a great time eating Korean food with stories we hadn't talked about in weeks. Ahhh, the fun is really different when you are really looking forward to doing something with the person you also want to bond with. What makes that day special is the person who enjoyed it with me, my best friend. The cost is really worth it when we're happy, right?
Overall, it was another successful week. Some days are bad and very draining. But I'm really thankful to God because He still gives me time to experience the good things in life. And I hope everyone feels that too.
Remember, bad days don't last forever. So have fun, walk around and enjoy life like it's your last.
