Hello everyone, I hope you all had an amazing day today.
Remembering how I had my first smart phone is indeed a wonderful memory. I can vividly recall how it happened, I was nine years old when my father bought me my first smart phone.
Back then, whenever I return from the boarding house during holidays and mid term break I normally made use of my dad or my mum’s phone to do my assignments, play games, watch videos and most times I will just keep pressing and exploring the phone.
My father will always shout at me that I am always pressing his phone all the time and I will equally ask him to buy one for me so I would not be disturbing him with his phone any more. My parents had this mind set that buying phone for a child is a distraction and will always make the child corrupt.
That made me sad sometimes because my friend had a smart phone and a Personal computer and I always wish I could have same but my parents never agreed to buy one for me, they said I was too young to own a phone and that I will get distracted and corrupt if I have one. I could not persuade them anymore I only prayed that God should help them see the need to get me a phone.
Something happened one day that changed their mind, I was alone at home and my parent had gone to the super market, I did not know how it happened but I saw smoke emitting from our neighbours apartment and no one was in the compound they had locked the gate from outside, everywhere became so stuffy and the next thing I saw was fire as I peeped through their room. I was helpless and I did not know what else to do as the fire would have expanded and burnt down our house as well.
Assuming I was with phone I would have called my parents to inform them, I was lost in thought, I could not scream either because no one would have heard my voice as the gate was locked. The fire was burning the apartment gradually and thank God my parents came back right on time and they were able to call the fire service and everything was sorted out. My parents regretted that if I had a phone I would have called to inform them on time.
That incident taught my parents a great lesson and they realized the need to buy me a phone, the next day while I was doing my assignment, I heard Tada! I turned and to my surprise it was a brand new Nokia Phone, it was actually a smart phone and gosh! My joy knew no bounds it was like a dream come true.
I was so happy about my new phone, I showed my friends my new phone and they were happy as well, my new phone was something I treasured so much, I used it to download a lot of music and games and I utilized it very well.
This was my first experience with the first phone I had, it was like a dream come true.
