Sammy Hagar - legend before Van Halen

I love that guy, cool, good singer and produces fast fun rock sounds - perfect party stuff - even more important on old fart and a fellow Libra born in October!

Way before he replaced David Lee Roth 1985 at Van Halen he was a rock hero to me simply because of that fab track:

Some stats as we all wanna know, right :-)?

Most of em draggeed by lovely Wikipedia hence marked that way.

After a brief career as a boxer, following in his father's footsteps, he became interested in the burgeoning music scene in Southern California, especially in his first band, "The Fabulous Castiles." In 1967, he recorded a single with Pete Samson and the group "Peppermint Trolley Co." with the titles Reach Out to Find Me and Read My Thoughts, which was released on the Ranwood label.

Other stages of the young musician were "Skinny", "The Mobile Home Blues Band" (1968), "Justice Brothers" and "Dust Cloud". However, his first major successes came after guitarist Ronnie Montrose asked him to join his band Montrose as singer and rhythm guitarist. The group released two albums with Hagar, namely Montrose (1973) and Paper Money (1974), before the singer left the band after problems with the band's founder.

Hagar launched a recording and touring career with increasing success with hits including Red, Heavy Metal, Three Lock Box before "I Can't Drive 55," which was originally a protest against the 55 mph speed limit on all U.S. highways.

Check also a live version from some years back the original:

ok - Van Halen times can not be missed

Hence the things I remember - the one all of you know that grew up in times before the internet was invented lol.

No more facts about Van Halen given I wrote about them already in one of the first Rock Classics edition - hope you like the Rock sound of the last century.
