Splinterlands tournament is the multi-player aspect of the top play to earn game where several players compete for a pool of price. Tournaments are organized by the splinterlands team or by a player who can set that up for a fee. Sometime in 2020, the Splinterlands team announced the addition of a new tournament format known as "Anytime" tournaments. This format of tournament allows players to submit their teams for their battles at any point during the time that the tournament is active.

The tournament runs for a specified period of time (for example 24 hours), as specified in the tournament details and is configurable by the tournament organizer. Players can submit teams for their matches at any point during that time. In an Anytime tournament, all entrants are randomly split up into groups. The maximum group size for a specific tournament is as configured and detailed by the tournament organizer. Each player will then play one match against every other player in their same group.

As at the time of submitting this post, Splinterlands has awarded about $6,664.611 USD to players as tournaments rewards.

I made my first ever entrants into a Splinterlands tournament two days ago and it was a whole new experience in my splinterlands gameplay so far. I did set up my team ahead for about 13 battles. This was when I knew the import of getting more cards and quality ones at that. I entered the tournament with a fee of 5 DEC only worth $0.00355 or 0.13 as at the time of submitting this post. Over 150 teams competed for a $13 price pool to be shared to the players at the end of the tournament depending on the final ranking based on number of battles won, lost or drawn. All teams did engage in about 852 battles and each had to fight about 13 battles.

It too a few minutes to set up my squad for each battle and after 24 hours, the tournament results were out. As marked in the screenshot below, I received a prompt of receipt of 2 SPS payout for tournament performance with below message.

You got a payment of 2.00 SPS for reason: Prize payout for 120th place finish in the Scarred Hand Novice beginner Training Splinterlands Tournament sponsored by Splinterlands (ID: d7e7e719f2771a58e28b4ed3eb7251a240e5148e). Congratulations!

Incredible 2 SPS worth about 77 DEC. That's huge. Arithmetically representing 1,460% profit on investment. Yes, my 5 DEC tournament entrants fee yielded 77 DEC and that is for my 120th placement and from almost the least rated tournament in prize. I see a really exciting season unfolding in my Splinterlands game engagement history. Below are screenshots of my currency activities.

I used to wonder how Splinterlands players make a whooping $500 in a season. I tell you the bulk is from tournament participation. The way is just to build up your card DEC to increase the quality of cards you own that can participate in tournaments. Enter tournaments with lesser fees, set up your team and wait for the results with big rewards.

I've entered two more tournaments yet this week and hopefully, the rewards would sure get bigger!

Splinterlands game is termed the "next generation of collectible card games" in which allows players to collect, trade, and battle with provably scarce digital collectibles with real-world value. Battles on Splinterlands Unlike most trading card games, are fast and furious, and are usually completed within few minutes. The Splinterlands gameplay is simple and easy to learn viz: reviewing combat rules, making and submitting of the team and watching the battle unfold.

Congrats! A lot of tournaments are totally worth taking part. No need to win to make a profit

No need to win to make a profit

Really? That means every participant wins something?

Well, the ones at the bottom of the list usually don’t make a profit. But generally if you manage to end in the top 1/3 of the tournament, you make a profit
