Another busy week, but I am starting to enjoy writing post on Splinterlands, sharing with the community about my thoughts on the cards and gameplay. Let's get on with the post itself.
Thoughts on Lava Spider
Lava spider is not a card that I commonly use. In Fire Splinter, I typically work on a heavy melee lineup to tap on the +1 melee of Tarsa. Nevertheless, snipe on fire splinter is rather rare, so why not, let's give it a try and see how it performs.
I took a peek on Lava Spider's progression, as it levels up, it becomes a true spider with the snaring to bring down aerial targets and also to poison and finally devouring it.
Enough said, let's get ready for battle!

Mana Limit: 15
Lineup
- Summoner - Tarsa
Reason of choice: My go to summoner for Fire Splinter. Always good for extra health and extra attack for serpentine spy/antoid platoon.
- Position 1 - Antoid Platoon
Reason of choice: Good low mana tank for fire splinter with shield and armour.
- Position 2 - Scorch Fiend
Reason of choice: Padding after main tank goes down to cushion further melee/range attack.
Position 3 - Creeping Ooze
Reason of choice: Mr Gooey whom slows everyone down by 1 speed to gain head start and possibly let Serpentine Spy smack some important target.Position 4 - Serpentine Spy
Reason of choice: Always reliable and always selected whenever I play fire splinter. Fast and deadly as long someone cushions first impact for him.Position 5 - Lava Spy
Reason of choice: Rarely used but decided to give it a try and hopefully the snipe can be useful here to take out some padders.
Opponent Lineup
- Summoner - Thaddius Brood
- Position 1 - Silent Sha-vi
Prediction before pressing rumble
A very standard death splinter opponent harnessing the capability of Windeku doing the thorns which does really well against fire splinters with low health and aiming to take out my backline with Silent Sha-vi. With a new inclusion of Lava Spider to my line-up. My guess will be a tough fight.
Let's get ready to rumble
Round 1, Serpentine Spy wears down Sha-vi and Lava Spider takes a hit from Sha-vi and survive with its strong health base. Being a range, the strike on Windeku didn't get the thorns return.
Round 2, Good bye Sha-vi as Serpentine Spy gets the job done with continued attack from Lava Spider onto Windeku and Antoid Platoon continued the pressure and soaking the thorns damage.
Round 3, Serpentine Spy lands the finishing blow on Windeku and bringing us the victory.
After Thoughts
It might seem like Lava Spider hasn't contributed much with Serpentine Spy stealing all the limelight. But looking deeper, if Lava Spider did not add the pressure to bring down Windeku health, we could be on a road of self destruct with Serpentine Spy dying to thorns before dealing any blow to Windeku.
I am thankful I selected Lava Spider for this battle. Any sneak melee such as Eleven Cutthroat or Kobold Miner which I tend to select often would have very much given a different result. Have yet to try Lava Spider on an upgraded form to see how it snares and poisons to get to the win but definitely something that I would like to try in the near future.
