Klaus and Geneva sat on the sofa beside their newborn baby, sleeping in the baby crib beside them. After staying up all night trying to put their infant to sleep, they were bone tired.
Taking a wipe to her tired eyes, Geneva sighed. "I'm exhausted. I don't know how much more I can take of this…."
A long sigh escaped Klaus' lips. "You're right; I've forgotten what it's like to sleep through the night."
As if on cue, their baby screamed, startling them both. Geneva sighed and held the infant in her arms.
Following her to the crib, Klaus offered, "Let me look after her."
Geneva nodded with a smile. "It's okay; you can leave this to me."
Klaus observed Geneva swaying her arms back and forth in an attempt to soothe their baby.
"You know what," Klaus announced abruptly, a sly grin on his face. "I have an idea."
Geneva cocked an ear, seemingly interested. "Oh? Let me hear it."
Klaus smirked. "Why don't we make it into a game? We'll take turns attempting to put her to sleep, and whoever succeeds gets a point."
Geneva let out a tired chuckle. "Are you being serious now?"
Klaus bowed. "Of course! It will make it more enjoyable and less tedious."
Geneva shrugged. "Alright, your game!"
Klaus gently took the baby from Geneva and started softly rocking her. The baby's eyes drooped not long after, and she fell asleep.
Seeing this, Klaus pumped his fist in the air.
Geneva smirked at her husband's antic and said, "Nothing but beginner's luck."
They played the game again, each taking shifts attempting to put their baby to sleep. Geneva attempted lullabies, while Klaus attempted silly expressions. They even tried a rendition of "Rock-a-Bye Baby," but it only exacerbated their baby's crying.
In the end, neither of them was victorious. They couldn't help but laugh as they lay in bed, exhausted and delirious from lack of sleep.
"Who knew caring for a baby would be so difficult?" Klaus yawned.
Geneva drew in closer. "But it's also gratifying."
They fell asleep with smiles on their features, knowing they could rely on each other during this exhausting period.
