Wednesday walk to chapel St. Petka

in #hive-1555303 months ago

My Wednesday walk today is from a holy place located in Strandzha mountain, near the Bulgarian village of Byala voda.

Early in the morning I headed south of the village. The sun had already risen and was pleasantly illuminating the forest path.

The air was filled with wonderful scents of herbs and forest flowers. Hundreds of birds and insects could be heard.

On the trees I found forest mosses, and on the ground an abundance of flowers.

There were so many plums of different varieties and walnut trees.

Thus, walking along the beautiful forest path, I reached the locality Ryakata, where the chapel of St. Petka.

To get to it I crossed a wooden bridge over the river.

The chapel is dedicated to St. Petka.

In Strandzha St. Petka is revered as a healing saint. She is the patroness of women, women in labor, the home and, like St. Marina helps the childless. Her very name suggests that she is a Friday saint. Together with his sister Nedelya, he builds a bridge to the afterlife, over which only righteous souls can cross.

I opened the chapel door and stepped inside.

There was an altar and many icons. Candlesticks and candles. Inside the chapel, there was also an internal ayazmo from which healing water flows.

There is a wooden tables and benches around the chapel and a hearth for lighting a fire.

This was my walk on Wednesday. It was very pleasant for me, I hope you liked it too.

Thank you for stopping by!
