Fidelity to me is same as loyalty. Being committed to a relationship with truth and integrity.
Fidelity is staying sexually committed to one partner.
Fidelity is beyond the immediate gratification a person enjoys from their partner but it involves your character as a person.
Fidelity is an act of being faithful and loyal.
Having a spouse you do not trust in the first place is a wrong step already.
When love, trust and understanding is established, fidelity is easy to achieve.
When a couple truly cherish the relationship they have with each other and quite understand their needs, hurting each other by cheating will be hell of a task.
They will be committed to their relationship so as to bring the best out of it.
Anyways, loyalty is a personality thing but anyone can build loyalty and integrity. Being loyal to your spouse foster lifelong fidelity.
I believe in lifelong fidelity, it keeps me focus, infidelity fosters distraction and keep one mentally weak.
The binding forces between two different people committing to a marriage should be love, trust and integrity and the help of God.
Having these in place, life long fidelity becomes easily achievable.
Different strokes for different folks, but ultimately lifelong fidelity boils down to the choices of each person. But for me I believe in lifelong fidelity and hope to achieve it with my spouse in the journey of marriage by the grace of God.
