The cheaply expensive food

in #hive-153850last year

Food is one of the most essential parts of human life, and it's one of the fundamental necessities that keeps us alive, active, and energetic to keep going on and on. When it comes to eating, we all have tastes that could either be expensive or moderate. Personally, I'm not the type of person who's freaked by expensive meal, but I can categorically tell you that I've tasted some expensive meals and also probably one of the cheapest meals anyone could possibly eat, and today I'll love to share those with you.

When it comes to eating, I love food, and I can't let go of an opportunity to fill my stomach. Though I'm somewhat picky, that doesn't mean a meal needs to be rich in all nutrients or expensive before I can eat it. To start with, I'll love to share the cheapest food I've ever eaten, and it's one I think you'll find interesting and funny, so without further ado, let's dive into it.

The cheapest food I got cost me just ₦50, which is ridiculously small, and I can understand your mindset presently: what food could I have the possibility ate that cost just ₦50? Well, it's none other than a meal called JOLLOF GARRI. I first heard about this meal from my grandmother, who was telling me some of her experience when Grandpa lost his job long before I was born. She talked about the struggle they went through and how they had to resort to that meal to keep their bodies and souls alive.

So fast forward to a few years later, and several years before now, I was in the university and stayed in the hostel. I was having a difficult time with finances because I had spent my school fees and had to look for means to gather them up again, and one way to do that aside from hustling is to cut costs, so I didn't buy foodstuffs but only ate any little thing I could grab, and on that particular day, I remembered my discussion with my grandmother and decided to try out the food.

So I went to a store close to my hostel and brought two cups of garri, which were sold for ₦50. I took them home and poured them into a plate, and luckily I've got other ingredients required for the meal. I poured some palm oil on the garri, added a pinch of salt and seasoning, then stirred it continuously till it all blended together, and that's how the jollof garri came by. It was a horrible meal, and personally, I'll say that taking such a meal implies that you're poor, broke, and swimming in provety, and I'll never want to have to taste such a meal again because, despite the seasoning, it has no reasonable taste.

Moving to the second phrase of the focal point of this topic, the most expensive meal I ever ate was at a restaurant. I actually went on a date with a close female friend of mine to celebrate the Easter festive season, and we decided to visit the Domino's outlet in Kano State. On arriving at the place, we both placed our orders, and being someone who has always longed to know what pizza tastes like, I ordered the biggest size and some cold stone ice cream.

The lady I went on a date with also placed her orders, and in total, all we ordered summed up to around ₦50,000. That's surprising because my budget was just around ₦35,000. Well, that wasn't a big deal; the big deal was that the salespersons were the ones who pushed us to include different jams and flavors in the ice cream until it became expensive.

Things went south when the time to eat came, and both of us were able to eat the pizza comfortably, but when it came to the ice cream, it just tasted odd and unpleasant to the point where none of us could eat it. It was very funny, and we couldn't help but laugh at ourselves because we felt it was because we were local or just tasting it for the first time.

To cut a long story short, we had to pack all of them in a bag and take them home to give to kids, Maybe they'll be able to eat them, but in the end, most of the kids were just playing with it because they themselves don't find it sweet. It's fun. The most expensive meal I ever brought happened to be something I couldn't eat to enjoy.

For that too, I won't be planning on trying it out again anytime soon; I can still try pizza, as I've eaten it on several occasions after that, but for the ice cream, I've been very picky after that day, so I won't buy something I'll find hard to consume.

That's all about my experience with the most expensive and cheapest meal I've eaten. I hope you enjoyed the read. Have a wonderful night's rest.

I love Jollof Garri and I don't think it's a poverty food 😆, I liked eating it when I was younger.

Cold Stone ice cream is trash, and just so expensive.
Their pizza is not even nice, except for a particular flavor that has honey on it.

Haaa food that I'm praying not yo near again is what you said is cool.

Yea I agree that their ice cream is indeed trash, I didn't enjoy it one bit and it's just too expensive.
