The Realities and Challenges of Colonizing Space: A Century-Long Dream

in #hive-17768216 days ago

Humans have over a hundred years been exploring the possibility of moving to the outer space to reside, and this is inspired by the continuous rise in global warming, climate change, and humans desire to explore and dominate. While it has been a dream that has lingered for centuries and humans already being able to land on the moon indicates what's to come, yet the possibility of moving and residing there permanently seems to not have materials due to some constraints, and today I'll be highlighting some of them.

Despite all humans effort to explore outer space and potential migration there in the near future, yet it seems like friction, as nothing as till date materializes, the only places humans have set foot on are earth and the moon, which is our nearest and only natural satellite that was first landed on in the year 1969 by the American astronaut Neil Armstrong in the Apollo 11 mission.

Since that particular mission, many have gone on to follow in the footsteps of the Apollo 11 crew to also step foot on the moon, but the possibility of exploring neighboring planets hasn't been fruitful like it was with human visits to the moon, and that's because none of these planets has the right gravity and oxygen that humans need to survive out there, and humans have only been able to send robots to explore Mars.

I can remember a few years ago, there was news that the world's richest man, Elon Musk, wanted to build a hotel on Mars and was hoping to make that a reality by building the hotel and getting humans to move there, which would have been one step towards our goal of migrating to outer space; however, that's impossible given the fact that radiation on Mars is way over 50 percent of what's down here on earth.

All of these put to consideration alongside other constraints of no visits, structures, or civilizations on Mars and other planets give an indication that our migration out is near impossible and more of a friction, because even on the moon humans have to depend on using oxygen while navigating their path on its surface, so what's the point of giving away freedom of fresh air at no cost to moving to a place where we can't enjoy the same freely?

These made me have the belief that humans migration to space might never happen and paraventure it would, then it'll take at least probably another 500 years to be actualized, and that's on the condition that different devices and mechanisms are created to make humans more adaptive to move around space without being carried away by gravity or choked to death by the unprotected radiation.

So in my opinion, since I believe it's a near impossible dream for humans to one day migrate from earth to life in outer space because they'll be made to water around with different gadgets and suits, which would be expensive and will affect a lot of things here on earth, I think we should instead focus on finding a way to make earth a home once again.

Treating it with caution and putting things in place that'll help combat the effects of climate change, which also works innovation that can help save and preserve lives during natural disasters that plague earth, such as tsunamis, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, and the like. If these are worked towards and actualized, I think it'll increase the quality of lives around the world and make earth a safe haven for everyone.

I agree ... I think we should just focus on saving the Earth. We will probably never find another planet in the Universe more beautiful and more perfect than the planet we have right here and now.
