Absolute Nightmare: Exploding pagers, smartphones and radios in Lebanon and Syria.

in #hive-16792214 days ago

Was sagt ihr dazu?

This is an absolute nightmare. In Lebanon, thousands of pagers used by the Hezbollah militia have suddenly exploded at the same time, presumably seriously injuring thousands of people, killing some.

For security reasons, to avoid being monitored, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria apparently uses pagers and walkie-talkies for communication.

Originally it was thought that the batteries of the devices could perhaps be remotely hacked to overheat and explode. That would be an absolute nightmare.

But this is rather unlikely, as batteries fortunately do not explode immediately and there are several safety mechanisms.

It is more likely that it is a supply chain attack. It is suspected that the Israeli secret service could be behind it and could have manipulated the pagers either during production or delivery and also planted explosives in them.

In any case, remotely detonating smartphones, batteries or electric cars would be an absolute nightmare.

Edward Snowden classifies the attack as a terrorist attack.

What do you think? Can electronic devices still be trusted after this attack?

This is a terrible experience, why does our world keep getting worse? Using technology as an instrument of destruction is very bad.

Unglaublich.

This is actually quite so terrifying

that's terrible! they should arrest the company making those pagers.

Politics aside - this is a terrible precedent to set. Those devices could have ended up anywhere and in the hands of civilians and children. In fact, many videos show them exploding in public areas. There was no control over where the devices went which to me makes this a case of indiscriminate bombing. I'm sure because a government was behind the attack it will never be labeled as a 'terrorist' attack, but it absolutely felt like one.

Holy smokes, this is so terrifying

in a war, anyone involved losses, even if there is a winner at the end

This is so sad, using the devices that are supposed to be useful for destruction

It is written in the Czech press that it was a targeted action by the Israeli secret service. The Israeli secret service established a company that produced these pagers and supplied them specifically to Hizballah.

:(

I heard about this and made me sad
As for me, I don’t always trust electronic devices
I’m always careful with them
