Hiking in Vienna (Flooding aftermath)

in #hive-12156612 days ago

Aftermath of the flood. In the meantime, the water level in the Wien River has receded considerably, but there are still some fallen tree in the nearby Vienna forest. (Lainzer Tiergarten) and a power pole had to be fixed with a wire rope. All in all, the damage seems fortunately manageable.

The railroad line and train infrastructure is however much more severely affected. In particular, the new Tullnerfeld station and new railroad tunnels were flooded and were not sufficiently protected against the flooding. Train services to the west are therefore severely limited at the moment. It is speculated that the repair work could even take months.

We got hit with a hurricane back in July that led to a lot of flooding and broken infrastructure. So many downed trees and damage everywhere. I did a hike shortly afterwards like you and saw similar things. Hope everyone is ok!

Hiking is really a great thing to actually engaged in sometimes

the government should now focus on improving the drainage system to avoid this kind of flood.

It is unfortunate to see the impact the floods have had, especially on the railway infrastructure, it's concerning that the repairs will take so long.
I hope the repairs progress quickly and that preventive measures are taken to avoid something similar in the future.

Roads and railways damaged by flood should be repaired and normal life should be restored

Let's hope the situation returns to normal as soon as possible.

Hotel receptionists are creepy.
They spend all day checking people out.

It sucks to hear but natural disasters are like that. The government is generally slow and it doesn't take all the necessary procautions.

Hearing about natural disasters makes me sad all times
I hope everything goes well and I love this hiking picture

The fallen trees shows how severe the flood was. Thank goodness everything is under control.
