This Friday we had round number 6 of season 10 of the Hive Chess Tournament organized by @stayoutoftherz.

It was a fairly intense tournament with a 5-minute time control with no increment. The truth is that I thought that this blitz would suit me well but the truth is that I did not do as well as in the previous rounds.

However I had a lot of fun and finally after a break in the transmission of my games I'm back. I am still struggling with this commenting and playing modality but I really dig it and I will in this way for a bit more.

@jaki01 took the 2nd place while @tungphong after a well-deserved rest conquered the 3rd position.

This time I didn't make it to the top but at least I managed to play some interesting games and scored good points for the leaderboard ranking. This was actually my performance:

Three games I could not win

Let's look at 3 games which were very unfortunate and I was able to give it the final blow.

@vjap55 vs @samostically

In this game I achieved a very big advantage in the opening but because Black allowed me to control the d5 square, this was a weakness that I exploited during the middlegame and I was also able to put a strong knight on that square. This was possible because Black played e5 instead of e6 on move 6 of this Sicilian.

However, I did not notice this nice queen sacrifice during the game, of course my advantage was too big and I let this tactical resource pass me by. A few moves later I was left with a decisive advantage but the time pressure made me make a series of mistakes and well, Samo got away with it lol. Next time I'll try not to talk so much xd

I liked this game very much, especially from the theoretical approach. I remember that I checked this variation of the alapin a lot in one of my international competitions and the moves I played with the black pieces I had well studied, in fact I got to that position of the isolated pawn where it is considered that black is somewhat better strategically.

However at this moment I did not follow the right plan. Certainly the weakness is the d4 pawn so my strategy must be to attack it, a very effective plan was to double the rooks on the "d" file, this would have clearly been a for the white structure. But I mistakenly changed the rooks on the "c" file which allowed a few plot twists but in the end in the last seconds of the match I gave perpetual check because I did not want to risk too much as the position had gotten out of control.

@vjap55 vs @sawko

This game was crazy, I mean CRAZY. Too many back and forth moments. The truth is that I didn't know what moment to take from this match. I had many opportunities to win after a couple of simple moves but for some reason I didn't see them at the right time. This is the clearest example since in the pawn endgame white only has to take the g5 pawn and with that he wins, that's it, it's as simple as that. If black recaptures this pawn with the king then the d5 pawn advances gloriously and sacrifices itself so that its colleague the c-pawn crowns, too easy and I didn't see it, what can I tell you?. I played very badly and ended up losing this simple basic pawn endgame.

Well, this was a quick recap of the games I couldn't win this Friday. In the video you can see all my games, I hope you like it. Let me know in the comments what you think about this way of playing.

See you next time and remember this saturday the @schamangerbert tournament continues and on sunday the @chessbrotherspro league so get ready for this weekend!

    That's right when it comes to sports some times you win sometimes you lose

    lol, i am back to prevent Vjapion

    Crazy queen sacrifice. Nowadays with the engines also the live reports of the top players did change completely. Already during the games they show the most craziest lines humans would never find. And there are even some youtubers who deliberately NOT use the help of Stockfish and Co. - quite interesting.

    Well the engine assistance is really helpful in tactical positions but in a slow position the engine could not guide you to find a proper plan. In blitz the module will get many tactics since we use to make lot of mistakes you know but it's really hard to come up with this crazy queen sacrifices with such a short time
