Hello everyone and welcome again!
This battle challenge you will enjoy a lot, in my profile you can find a guide on how to play with this splinter in Bronze in case you need it, today in this post I will give you a specific instruction on how to use Mycelic Slipspawn, a very strong card that can help you win a lot of games.
In case you don't know it...
Introducing Mycelic Slipspawn!
Edition: Chaos Legion.
Rarity: Rare.
Element: Earth.
Attack: Magic.
Mana Cost: 9 points.
Abilities:
- Taunt at lvl 1
- Forcefield at lvl 4
- Slow at lvl 8
An as the lore says:
Mycelic Slipspawn was first found on the edges of the swamps of Praetoria, in areas where the fetid waters meet with the forests and jungles. It is highly toxic and grows to a substantial size. Death is uncommon for those who touch its fibrous body however, the side effects of its toxins can cause a long list of illnesses and disease, leaving its victims severely debilitated.
When the chaos portal opened and the creeping plague infected the land, the Slipspawn struggled to endure, being completely intolerant to the deadly pandemic. But then Queen Mycelia came, she touched the Slipspawn as she passed it by and it drank from her power, an enduring energy that ran deep and defiantly cast the pestilence of the chaos taint aside. The Slipspawn pulled its roots free from the ground and eagerly danced across the leafy forest floor after her, desperate to follow its saviour and stand by her in the times to come.
The small fort was impregnable. In fact, from recollection, Ursca couldn’t remember the last time it had even been attacked, which did beg the question as to why it was there. Apparently the Realm of Silence was nearby, tunnels dug beneath the ground by rat-like creatures, but he didn’t believe any of that, it was all just an excuse to keep them penned up in the uncomfortable old garrison.
A shout snatched his attention away from the mundane task of chopping firewood and he looked up to the wall where one of the guards was waving vigorously.
“Bowmen, we need bowmen up here now!” the man cried.
Ursca forgot what he was doing, dropping the axe and running to the wall, excitement at what was on the other side dispelling any hint of alarm or panic. When he reached the palisade and looked over, he was met with the strangest of sights. It appeared the forest had sprouted legs and was shambling towards them, led by a peculiarly dressed woman and a shuffling…was that some kind of mushroom? As they neared though he could see it wasn’t a woman at all, more like some sort of infected witch, and the other thing was white and rubbery looking with fiery hair, bright eyes and a white lattice work that blossomed out behind it.
Moss and rotten spores began to appear across the wood stockade, creeping up the wall, prompting Ursca to edge away. Some of the guards fired arrows at the approaching throng but they all turned in the air at the last moment, striking the white fungus creature at the front. None of it caused any damage though and the rotting horde continued, inexplicably on. He wanted to turn and run away but his limbs felt suddenly leaden, the energy sapped from his body. Then a guard screamed and Ursca looked along the wall. He watched in horror as the fungal spores reached the poor man, quickly absorbing the life from his body and turning him into a rotting husk within seconds.
Closing his eyes, Ursca dropped to the ground and began to sob.
How to use Mycelic Slipspawn?
This is a card that you have to use as a tank, as it has Taunt it is perfect to attract enemy attacks and heal it a lot to cancel the damage, and also as it has Forcefield it will receive little damage from very high attacks, perfect for high mana battles, both for these two skills and for its mana cost which is quite high. It has a lot of life and good attack so you should use it as a tank, although it could work very well in the last position and aligning it with cards that have Triage, so everyone will attack it, you will heal it every turn and you can do a lot of damage with this strategy. You can also use it in the second position with the Taunt + Triage, so you protect your tank from receiving enemy attacks and at the same time keep Mycelic standing with the tank's healing, as I show you in today's battle.
And for last, my battle!
Round 1.
Holy Protection ruleset. 28 Mana cap.
Xenith Monk is my tank for his healing, his mana cost is half of Unicorn Mustang's and that allows me to summon more useful cards for this strategy.
Spirit Hoarder to heal my Mycelic Slipspawn while doing a lot of damage.
Khmer Princess to do damage, it costs very little mana so it's easy to get it into the lineup.
Goblin Psychic will heal the Xenith Monk and is also my highest damage card, it's very important in this lineup.
Mycelic Slipspawn at the end to take all the attacks, being healed by my Spirit Hoarder I guarantee many turns holding, plus the Holy Protection is a plus for this.
Round 2.
A curious fact here is that my opponent has much more combined damage than me, but to achieve that he sacrifices the abilities of his cards and having me a double healing, ended up giving me the advantage, even though his team had more damage. Besides, the concentrated damage of my cards towards the tank would be lethal for Unicorn Mustang, despite his Void.
Round 3.
Both his Unicorn and my Mycelic had fallen in round 2, he still had attack advantage because of Obsidian's buff and to complicate things, I missed an attack from my Xenith Monk, which would make him fall in the next round.
Round 4.
Round 5.
Things were not looking good, were they? My Goblin's healing and Holy Protection were enough to make me invincible in this game.
What was my experience with this card?
This for me is a card more than necessary in your teams if you are a player of this Splinter, you can buy 1 regular BCX for 0.31$ and one gold for 5.63$, it is one of the most expensive cards of this Chaos Legion edition and that is due to the tremendous utility it has. If you have not used it, do it and you will see that from that moment you will fall in love with it.
As I always say in these posts, all cards, no matter how good or bad they may seem, have their moments of glory and also their bad side, it's up to you as a player to use them as they should be and take advantage of them in your victories, play many battles, practice and you will become a better player little by little.
Thank you very much for reading my post, I hope to see you in the next one, see you soon!
