Hello everyone and welcome again!
Work has kept me a bit away from Splinterlands but when I saw this new Battle Challenge I had to get some time to participate because I really like the Portal Spinner, that Scattershot skill has a lot of potential and I think not many people realize why it has so much utility, so I will try to explain it in this post, greetings to all and welcome!
In case you don't know it...
Introducing Portal Spinner!
Edition: CHAOS LEGION.
Rarity: RARE.
Element: LIFE.
Attack: RANGED.
Mana Cost: 5 points.
Abilities:
SCATTERSHOT at lvl 1
SNARE at lvl 5
An as the lore says:
Portals Spinners are members of the Cult of the Rift, a faction within the Chaos Legion that harnesses rift magic to cast deadly spells. Portal Spinners siphon life magic from their surroundings to open mini-rifts in the fabric of reality. Some thought to use these portals to travel between realms. However, after attempting to do so, many a Portal Spinner was consumed by whatever foul beasts dwelled on the other side of the portal. Others emerged... rearranged... and either dead or wishing they were dead.
Now, Portal Spinners simply use their portals to launch chaotic and random attacks against their enemies. They might open one portal beneath a fallen sword, boulder, or other weapon of convenience and a second portal above their enemies, sending the weapon through the rift and crashing down on its unsuspecting victim.
If facing enemies capable of flight, Portal Spinners have been known to use their portals to drop nets upon their foes, grounding them.
The Portal Spinner sat alone at a table in the tavern, enjoying her dinner and sipping an ale.
A large man in black and silver armor with the emblem of the Chaos Legion emblazoned across the chest strode toward her table and towered over her.
“You almost got the lot of us killed out there,” the Chaos Knight said, the words a growl.
Mutterings from the surroundings tables as the others glared at her.
She sawed off a chunk of venison and waved the fork at him. “You're alive enough,” she said, and popped the meat into her mouth.
“Teach you and your flippant attitude,” the Chaos Knight said. He drew his sword from its scabbard.
The Portal Spinner waved her hand in a circular motion, and a portal opened beneath one of the three empty chairs around her table. The chair fell through it and disappeared. A second portal appeared, but her aim was just a bit off, and the chair dropped onto a nearby patron with a clunk. The poor fellow's eyes rolled up in his head. He toppled sideways and hit the ground hard enough to shake the floorboards.
“Whoops.”
“Damn you, woman!” the Chaos Knight raised his sword.
The Portal Spinner waved her hand, and a portal appeared under the second chair. It dropped through and reemerged, this time above the barkeep, who grunted as it struck him. He staggered into the shelf of liquors. Bottles toppled over and fell to the floor, shattering and leaking everywhere. “Get her!” the cry went up. One chair left. The Portal Spinner wove her magic. The chair dropped through it. The second portal was on mark this time. It opened directly above the Chaos Knight.
Only this time, what dropped through it wasn't a chair. It was something much, much worse, with claws, teeth, and an insatiable appetite.
“Whoops.”
How to use Portal Spinner?
It seems to me that this card is very underrated, because it has a tremendous range of use, as it has a ranged attack you will have to play it as far back as possible in your lineups, the closer to the last position it is, the better because it has Armor. In Bronze/Silver it has only Scattershot and what this ability does is attack an opponent monster randomly, ignoring other abilities such as Taunt, for example, so many people call it a ''lottery'' and this is not so, because no matter what card it attacks, it is still attacking, so it is still affecting your opponent. It can also be combined with Sloan to increase the attack and make it even more dangerous, and as it brings very good damage from the beginning, it can eliminate weak monsters of the enemy randomly, it is an excellent card. Note that only 5 cards in the whole game have this ability so far. That's something that not many people talk about, it's very rare this ability.
The Gold Foil can be found at $1.72 per BCX and at almost 8 cents for 1 regular BCX.
And for last, My Battle!
I already started with an advantage because my opponent was with an antimagic summoner and lower level than me, so I had an advantage in card levels and also in the field because I didn't play a magic alignment. The level influences a lot in the position of the attack turns, always remember that.
Round 1.
Lorna is my favorite life summoner, it seems that her ability is anything but you can't imagine how much you take advantage of having a turn without any damage for each card, especially in battles where there is no abundant mana because everything is defined in a few attacks.
My opponent made a very marked mistake and that is that all his cards share the same characteristic, a very low life. If you don't have a tank that can withstand the blows of the other cards, you are practically giving away the game.
Round 2.
His Feasting attacked my Portal Spinner that ignored the damage thanks to Lorna, so did my Pelacor with his Xenith Archer to give way to my counterattack, with one hit my Portal knocked down the enemy Feasting, and my Pelacor thanks to his Magic Reflect also finished with the Ice Pixie. It is very important to choose the tank well and Pelacor Conjurer is brilliant at that because he returns magic attacks and if he receives Ranged or Melee attacks he has Fly and good speed to dodge them, so you go prepared against everything and if any of my cards fell my Adelade would be in charge of reviving them.
Round 3.
The rest was history. 2 cards down in the first round in a battle of only 17 mana points is an almost certain defeat, Adelade is always brilliant and with Lorna even more so because if she revives a card, it will come back with Divine Shield active.
What was my experience with this card?
I love this card, I will not get tired of saying it, I recommend everyone to try it because the surprise of its attack is just what makes it brilliant, there are very good strategies like Shieldbearer + Armor Repair and this Portal Spinner is one of the few cards that could ruin that strategy. Have you thought about that?
As I always say in these posts, all cards, no matter how good or bad they may seem, have their moments of glory and also their bad side, it's up to you as a player to use them as they should be and take advantage of them in your victories, play many battles, practice and you will become a better player little by little.
Thank you very much for reading my post, I hope to see you in the next one, see you soon!
