When smoking kills

It is no doubt that you see a lot of people who smoke on a daily basis and sometimes when you aren't even a smoker, you decide to chill and hang out with them.

Let me give you this breaking news that even when you are not smoking but are exposed to secondhand smoking fume you are liable to certain health problems which could include coronary heart disease , lung cancer , stroke as a result of thrombosis which could reduce the amount of blood and oxygen being carried to the brain , low birth weight , and in children , it can lead to an asthma attack in the infants and other respiratory infections, and Sudden death syndrome. This is what you get for smoking (although you might have them and worse), this is what you get for sitting with someone who smokes regularly.

With my explanation above, I do not think we need a soothsayer to tell us that smoking kills but for the sake of this question, let me explain what happens when you smoke. When you smoke a cigarette or any other type of harmful material, toxic gases go straight to your lungs (let me quickly remind you that the lungs are responsible for oxygenating the blood that goes back to your heart and removing the CO2 from it) When they get into your lungs, they no doubt mix with your blood and goes into your bloodstream where they begin to go to every organ in your body. The neurotransmitters in your brain also relate this to the brain, and that is why after you smoke these substances, you feel the effect in your body and most especially in your brain.

Let me explain about cigarettes a little. It is made with tobacco leaves, and tobacco leaves contain nicotine, as well as other chemical compounds like Benzene, Formaldehyde (what some of you know as formalin which is used to preserve dead humans), and over 40 more compounds. When they are burned, they release these harmful compounds into the body and the air where about 40 of these compounds are carcinogenic (meaning they have the possibility of causing cancer).

Let me also state that when a cigarette is being smoked, it releases the same fume that comes out of cars which is Carbon Monoxide, and it also releases nitrogen oxide. Whether you like it or not, all forms of smoking substances are harmful, and all forms of tobacco including snuff is poisonous and can lead to cancerous diseases and death.

Smokers usually die younger than non-smokers, if you see someone in your environment who smokes and is still living at a very long age, be certain that they already most likely have organ issues but their body system is trying to keep them alive. People who smoke are at risk of having a heart attack, heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease which can lead to death...

I do not smoke and do not intend to start anytime soon but I have seen people who smoke and are very addicted to it. You see, addiction isn't a one-day thing, you cannot start smoking today, and become addicted to it immediately. It is the constant feeding of the dopamine receptor in the brain with these compounds that make it excited that gives these wanting feeling over time. People with an addiction to smoking tend not to be able to do without it, and this also has a long effect on their finance, because they tend to test new types of substances that can be smoked. These people start to look pale, they begin to have changes in the color of their conjunctiva and sclera (the white part of the eye). People who are addicted to smoking often are resistant to certain injections including sedatives, and in other to treat them, a much stronger dose or stronger version is given.

I will do this in two ways, smoking withdrawal from a person who is addicted, and preventive measures for people who are not yet smokers. People who smoke are liable to have a heart attack, thanks to Norepinephrine and epinephrine which are responsible for increased heart pump when people stop smoking, their heart rate comes back to normal but overtime the nicotine craving starts and the person begins to feel drowsy, and down. If the patient (I am used to using the word patients in medical issues) stays without smoking, at about 12 hours, the blood vessel begins to clear up the carbon monoxide in it causing blood can flow through it. In about 24 hours, the patient can start coughing out the substances in the lungs, and over time the brain nerve endings can begin to function well. For chronic smokers, the possibility of having their tastebuds gone, and some organs damaged is high. If the previous smoker quits smoking, they will eventually lose the addiction they had in the past.

Now to non-smokers or early smokers, what can be done is educate them. make them understand that they are one step away from having serious health issues which could lead to death. The inscription "Smokers are liable to die young" should be changed to "Smokers are liable to have irreversible health issues" this will make them understand that they aren't going to just die like that because most people say that they have been smoking for years and haven't died but rather we make them understand that they are at a very high risk of chronic organ diseases which can lead to organ failure and death. Adverts on Television, media outlets, and social media pages can help share this information so as to educate people. One thing about people is that they do not learn unless they have first-hand experience, so taking them to the hospital once in a while to see patients who struggle for their lives as a result of smoking is another way to make them quit smoking or not smoke at all.
