The details:

Many Canadians including a large group of Truckers are protesting the Emergency Mandates in Canada, including requiring masks, control of out door activities, and showing vaccination passports to have access to Bars, Restaurants and even grocery stores.

The Trucker are parked in Ottawa, the Nation's Capitol and they have not been willing to move. There are many logistical issues with forcefully moving them, so after trying to smear and bully them for over two weeks, Justin has declared them an emergency.

Quote Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took the step of declaring a national public order emergency on Monday in a push to end protests in the Canadian capital for more than two weeks and reverberated across the country.

As part of his statement Trudeau threatened to block and seize crypto transactions as well.

You might remember that people around the globe donated to GoFundMe over $10 million and then givesendgo.com another 9 million both accounts have been blocked and compromised by the Canadian Government.

Today's news states they have blacklisted crypto wallets.

Canada blocks 34 wallets associated with the truckers protest:

29 #Bitcoin
2 #Ethereum
1 #Cardano
1 #Monero
1 #Litecoin

Of course what is getting reported by those with no crypto background is that Canada has frozen Bitcoin wallets. (They'd have to do that at the mining level)

So, when we say Bitcoin fixes this, the fact remains that the government can not get their hands on this money, but unless the truckers have very knowledgeable consultants and an off ramp it may still be difficult to get this crypto into their hands in a usable manner.

I'm fascinated with how it turns out and while I stand with the truckers I also welcome the opportunity to see how this plays out.

It needs to be noted there are NO official requests by the Truckers for any financial support. In fact most have said they don't need it. As per usual the media is presenting this as if they are out there begging for money.

To me the most interesting part is how with Bitcoin and the other cryptos hold up to a targeted attack on a handful of wallets, and I can't wait to watch it play out.

Clearly another message in all this is HOLD your own keys. If your bitcoin is in an exchange it will be much easier to seize.

I STAND WITH THE TRUCKERS!!

Well since most truckers might not know how to spend crypto... blocking them from turning it into cash appears to help.

It will also help create stronger use cases for direct payments using Bitcoin

I'm hopeful that this can instigate more businesses accepting crypto as payment. The way it is now, all of the truckers, we can presume, will have their bank accounts frozen. Crypto will have to be converted to CAD and handed to the truckers in person.

The use of the Emergency Powers is clearly invalid as the threshold for "emergency is plainly not met (Even leftist Canadian civil liberties association recognises this).

Trudeau is isolated as Province Premiers are repudiating his policies and getting rid of mandates.

Any institution complying with it will be left high and dry and subject to class action lawsuits when Superior Candadian Courts rule the use of Emergency Powers invalid.

You probably still disagree with me on this but i maintain bitcoin is not the crypto to fight this...right now monero or zcash are the best options, and bitcoin is weak. In my opinion...so this should be interesting.

Wow interesting, I've been following this news. You are right, recently in my country too, some people reported that binance froze their accounts for days for no good reason. Holding your keys are always safer anytime.

True, let's see how this plays out! Would be Interesting to see what they do. To me, it seems they are doing nothing currently.

This is where crypto runs into trouble, financing 'terrorism'. At the moment the on and off ramps are the weak link but once people use Bitcoin in day to day life and peer to peer transacting becomes the norm we will have some kind of true freedom. People just need to wake up to social change, its slow but its happening. At that precise moment that people are using Bitcoin between themselves, the privacy issue will become evident as the only tool TPTB will have is surveillance. Hopefully Monero will become more well known and used at that point. We still have problems though.

I am interested in seeing what happens with the legal fees. When things pick up, I think those funds will definitely pay a part in the process because it won't end before people start getting arrested. I am a little interested in seeing whether or not those fund raisers won't embezzle the money or not. At least with BLM, I know there was quite a bit of money that was stolen by the higher ups.

I'm very curious as to how this will play out. Not sure how far the government will be willing to go.

The problem is that the governments can still push it to only black market use. Killing its utility.
They could simply make it illegal to publish your bitcoin address. Individuals could still get around this, but established businesses would not be able to transact in that environment.

Yes I agree. I just fear there are too many that are assuming technology fixes this alone. Somewhat in the same way people assumed the Constitution would keep us free, but failed to defend it.

People will still need to be involved the same way people have always needed to be involved.

Times they are a changin'. The growing pains we feel now in the cryptosphere are necessary. I wish the outcome of this venture weren't so important, but then if it weren't it wouldn't be a great test I guess.

I am so proud of our truckers and I stand by them 100%.
Now we can all see the truth behind Trudeau. He needs to resign.
I really hope the truckers will keep on staying strong and Trudeau needs to act like a PM and not like a 5 year old who is constantly hiding and spreading lies.

The one good thing about covid is that people are starting to see the truth behind their governments, the medicare and social media. And the truth will win at the end.

Financial support to any movement goes a long way and if a moment has global support it takes things to another level.
Plus it is quite difficult to block btc funds flow. There are so many ways to route the payments some visible and some via privacy based coins which ensure that the transactions cannot even be tracked on the blockchain.

The truckers are a beautiful example of how things can go very civil and peaceful but very clear in the goals. None of the horse shit riots that happened in the various areas in America but good people putting their foot down!

I saw that some were getting arrested and some got hurt. Fingers crossed that that shit stops and people can keep doing what they can to peacefully protest!

I don't understand why he goes to this extreme. It seems like this could easily be addressed within the bounds of existing law. If these truck are parked illegally, just have them towed and impounded and charge a hefty impound fee to get it back. Yes, towing and impounding a crapload of 18-wheelers isn't "easy" but is it really that hard? Just take it one at a time.

I don't mean to imply that I disagree with the truckers, just that it seems like government seems to be unnecessarily escalating the situation. You don't need emergency powers to tow some trucks.

I think that's only the start. Ukraine - Russia sanctions are way scarier.

Avoid sanctions means nato states hammer Bitcoin as a security thread to 0.

Not by banking, making it impossible to trade it against fiat.

And this means crypto is like a game token.

But wait, it cost too much to run, special POW.

And as you can see local they can block wallets, but that means nothing.

Blacklist people for cashouts step 1.

Ultra heavy KYC step 2.

Step 3, make it illegal and exclude exchanges from swift + massive sanctions against exchanges.

Bitcoin maxis think it's unstoppable. Reality is very different.

I am all for getting rid of mandates of any kind. I just wish more people would be as proactive with these types of things. If you give politicians an inch they take a mile, and they never rest.
