I have always loved the drapes that fall so elegantly on the front bossom. I like it even more because it can be worn by both the busty and those who are not busty.
For those who are busty, the drapes(folds and curves) act as a perfect distraction while for those who are not, it adds volume not to forget the elegance that comes with it.
A friend of mine contacted me to make an outfit for her and make a choice of the outfit to make. I chose this cowl-neck top and a palazzo trouser with flounce. She is petite and would love to look bigger and this choice will do just fine. Wait till she puts them on🤩.
First, I cut out the front bodice using her measurement (a size 8) as seen below
After cutting out the pattern as seen above. I placed the fabric in a fold and doubled it because it was light. The heaviness of the fabric will accentuate the cowl. I pinned the fabric down and then left 11 inches above.
Tracing the arm and body shape I cut out the pattern as seen below. I will use the extra 11 inches above to create that cowl.
Then opening it up, I arranged the fabric with gathers on the shoulder. Can you see how elegant it looks?
I used the front pattern to cut out the back with minor changes on the armhole and zipper allowance.
The back pattern
The bell sleeve
After joining all the parts together…
Voila!
