The Breathtaking Beauty of Tinago Falls | Hidden Gems of Iligan City Part 2

in #hive-1277883 months ago

Hey, wholesome reader!

Continuing my adventures in Iligan City, as I have previously posted in this blog post, today let me tour you to one of the city's hidden charms – Tinago Falls!

Translated in English, tinago literally means 'one that is hidden'. True to its name, the falls is a hidden gem that can be accessed through either of the roads of Ditucalan, a barangay in Iligan City; or in Linamon, which is the neighboring municipality of the city. The travel time from the city proper to the falls is approximately 45 minutes.

Upon reaching the entrance, you will be asked to pay an entrance fee of 60.00 PHP per head (1.10 USD) and a parking fee of 100.00 PHP (2.00 USD) for 4-wheeled vehicles or 20.00 PHP (0.40 USD) for motorcycles. The entrance fee is already inclusive of one life vest per person, but exclusive of table rental fee, which ranges from 150.00 PHP to 250.00 PHP (3.00-5.00 USD) depending on the table's location.

Before reaching the falls, you have to take 355 steps down the stairs. You can imagine my knees already wobbling at the 100th step! But before reaching the bottom-most step, you can already see the majestic view of the falls.

This is yet another episode of how nature never disappoints!

It was jaw-dropping, probably the most beautiful falls I've seen in my life! All the energy exerted from going down the stairs seemed to come back in my body when I saw how beautifully the waters were falling 240 feet down from the mountain.

Its blue-green pool of water provides people a place to enjoy swimming while cherishing the stunning view of the falls. Life jackets are provided for the safety of everyone. You can also ride the balsa (bamboo raft) if you want to go under the falls.

We obviously enjoyed swimming here during the early hours of the day; the sunlight still soft on our skin. I was even feeling brave enough to climb on the rocks to take cool pictures of the mini falls on the side. (Thanks to my boyfriend for guiding me and helping me climb as he has been here a couple of times already.)

After swimming, we got hungry. Good thing we brought some food, as I learned that no one sells food at the falls. So if you plan to visit, be sure to pack some food beforehand.

Now that it's time to go, it’s hard to say goodbye to this dreamy view. What’s even harder is climbing 355 steps back up to the exit.

After enjoying nature's beauty, this was the price we had to pay. But it was totally worth it! This place truly left me breathless–both literally and figuratively. 💖🍃
