Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. In our daily life, each and everyone is saddled with the responsibility of taking decisions which can either make or mar us. So it is not shocking that there are times when we have regrets over the decisions that should have been made but we didn't make or the ones we should not have made that we made.

Regrets can be very painful and hurting. It is usually the feeling of guilt and disappointment for things or events that have happened in our lives in the past. If not well managed such feelings can influence your life in a negative way. The thing about regrets that are not well managed is that it blurs your vision to seeing the beauty and joy that lies ahead but it puts your focus on the mistakes that you have made in the past.

Cambridge University Dictionary defines regrets as a feeling of sadness about something sad or wrong or about a mistake that you have made, and a wish that it could have been different and better. In other words, it is a form of thinking that makes you feel like things might have been different if you had done something different. Regrets is usually characterized by negative emotions that focus on the past and it also leads to self blaming.

Regrets feel so painful because you begin to blame yourself badly for something you could have done that you didn't do or an action (move) you could have made that you didn't make that made something terrible occur. However, regrets can be turned to a positive tool if well utilised. It can guide you to make better decisions and choices in the future if you don't let it overpower you and your emotions.

One way to not allow regrets get the better of you is to forgive yourself and accept the mistakes you have made. You must be ready to face the reality of life that you can't do anything about the past but you can do better in the future. When you forgive yourself, you are able to let go of the disappointment and anger you have towards yourself. So, instead of treating yourself with disdain and guilt, forgive and show some love to yourself.

Regrets can range from not performing up to your expectations in an interview or missing out on asking your crush out when you had the opportunity. It could also be in a case where you wanted to rent or buy a property - you like the property and you have the financial capacity to purchase it but before you could make up your mind you heard someone else has bought it. Interestingly, we have regrets on a daily basis but we suppress most of them even without knowing it especially when it relates to trivial issues.

While it may be impossible to have no regrets in life, it is vital to ensure you handle it effectively and efficiently and not allow it break you. Forgive yourself and learn from your past experiences and use it to shape your future.
