In analyzing and treating the topic above, we must begin with defining and seeking expressions to the term "effective planning".
I would be dynamic with the definitions.
Firstly, I would define "Effective", secondly, "planning", and thirdly, the combination of both terms, as "Effective Planning".
EFFECTIVE: capable of producing a desired result. Something or an event is said to be effective when it has the
capacity to give desired result.
PLANNING: An act of devising methods in advance for achieving a goal or objectives.
EFFECTIVE PLANNING: therefore would be seen as correct and workable actions/methods to achieve goals/aim/objectives.
It's essential to know that the realization of every goal lies in planning.
Having broken down what "effective planning" purports and implies, we now proceed to "Steps to planning".
Before going into the steps to planning, let us take note of a principle called the "A,B,C of goals.
Since there's a relationship between planning and goals, it's imperative that we see the ABC principles of goals, as this would help in guiding our steps to planning.
ABC of goals:
A- Achievable; whatever goal one is setting in life, its always good to ensure that, it's such that's realistic(that's achievable). Goals that doesn't exist just in fantasies but has an element in reality.
B- Believable - set goals that doesn't seen overwhelming. Make to mistakes to be pushed into having goals that are "unnecessary, too much and excessive" simply because you want to be seen as "fearless or courageous". Most of these things are birthed out of numerous and unrealistic motivational speeches.
C- concrete: this is the combination of both achievable and believable factors.
Here, you set goals that are authentic practically possible and workable.
You don't make living in mars/moon a goal, when earth is a visibly realistic, believable and concrete goal, which has been serving man's habitation need.
Steps to planning:
Set a definite goal(be specific with goals).
Decide/set deadline.
Write down the goals.
Develop a plan to achieve your goal(any goal without a plan mechanism, doesn't materialize).
Determine what to give in exchange for achieving your goal.
Areas we can set goals as people..
- Career goals.
- Health goals.
- Financial goals.
- Spiritual goals.
- Mental goals..
I believe this little insight today would really go along away to helping us with tenets and guidelines to planning and goal(s) setting.
Let me summarize with this statement; it's planning that separates achievers from ordinary dreamers.
CHEERS 😊!!
