A Bit Of A Home Accident

in #hive-1962332 years ago

One minute I was making French toast for breakfast, the next, an explosion occurred in the kitchen and we were drenched in beans. It's weird that the first thing that came to mind after it all was the pan with the bread on the floor. I was invested in that toast.

How did beans get into this conversation?

Well, my pressure pot burst open while on the stove and almost all the beans inside shot up to the ceiling alongside the pot cover. Thank goodness, it didn't shoot to my face and I also wasn't too close to it.

The impact was crazy and I initially thought it was a gas explosion. Apparently, the cover of the pot wasn't wound tight enough. There wasn't water in the pot anymore and the pressure burst it open.

It was a rain of beans and the ceiling looked like the upside down from Stranger Things. The handle of the pot cover broke as it flung to one corner of the kitchen and I think it might have hit my arm. I have a little swelling but it's no big deal.

Asides the broken handle, the pot is okay and I can still use it as usual. My gas stove however, suffered a huge dent from the recoil, I hope that can be fixed. I'm just glad I can worry about these things and not about something terrible happening to my face or head. That pot cover would have knocked me tf out.

A lot could have gone wrong in a split second and I'm grateful I only had to deal with cleaning up the mess. The very loud explosion scared the heck out of my dog who loves her life very much, my husband already was calculating what needed to be replaced, and I was wondering how I'd reach the ceiling to scrape all that beans off.

There was no loss except the pot handle, the cooked beans, and my French toast. It took me well over midnight to clean up the kitchen after work hours and everywhere's back to normal.

As you said, a lot could have gone wrong in this situation and you should just be glad it didn’t. The picture describes the whole situation in a very funny way though.

Again, it’s good to know that nothing terrible happened there and I hope you’re in a good condition, also be careful next time :)

I'll be extra careful henceforth. I only wanted to heat up the beans for a few minutes so I didn't want to lock the cover. To think that I'd been doing this for years and didn't know such carelessness could cause so much harm.

Well it’s not entirely your fault, we sometimes forget and that’s why we are humans. Have a nice end to the week :)

Gratitude is key because what the actual f?!

It's a good thing that no one was hurt because I won't want to hear something like " I'm writing this post with one eye lost and my hand left hand fully bandaged"

But for reals tho, I'm glad no one got hurt.

Don't even want to imagine that. I got scared of even using my normal pots for a few days

Hay☺️
It's been a while since I heard from you. Welcome back.

And I'm sure you must have overcome the fear by now✨

Those are scary times for sure! I’m afraid of that happening with our pressure cooker, we use the thing every single day and I’m nervous one of these days it’s going to pop lol. I try to clean the thing often and seal it up nice and tight before turning it on but there’s always that thought in your head if this is the time it will pop..

Glad that you’re okay and it was just some lost food and handle! It could have certainly been worse!

I never had this fear before but now I do. I didn't know that could happen 😩
