Defiant For A Reason.

For the past two weeks, my cat has been acting really defiant and that is quite strange... or maybe not so much. If I remember vividly, about three years ago, I acquired two cute kittens who were from the same mother but with characters at the opposite end of the spectrum. Gyal, the female cat, was more reserved and loved to keep to herself. Buoy, on the other hand, was a very clingy male cat.

About a year and a few months later, I tragically lost my male cat and I could tell that this didn't just take a toll on me but on Gyal too, because she just lost her play buddy and sibling. However, she took the loss like the tough cat she is. A month after Buoy’s demise, she gave birth to a lovely set of kittens which I assumed were products of my just lost cat.

Sadly, none of the kittens survived because they got ill and I didn't know how to help them, coupled with the fact that they were just a few days old.

Soon enough, Gyal gave birth to another set of kittens and then another. We were all surprised because there wasn't any other male cat around…or at least that is what we thought. After paying close attention, we discovered that Gyal had indeed moved on from Buoy and she had become friends with a feral cat.

Three of four

Gyal recently gave birth to a new set of kittens last month and she started acting up two weeks after. First off, I would like to state that her new set of kittens are really headstrong; going places they shouldn't go and doing things they shouldn’t do.

Over the years, I’ve learned to cope with her because she reminds me so much of myself, in the sense that I like my peace and quiet. Whenever I opt to caress or cuddle her, she is willing and whenever I decide to get all goofy, she watches with a keen face. However, she has been acting out, ignoring my calls and shying away from my caresses (and now I sound like a jealous boyfriend).

Anyway, I thought of things I possibly may have done to upset her and the only thing that came to mind was the day I verbally reprimanded her for the bad deeds of her kittens who had popped all the sachets of water with their nails, just for the fun of it. This obviously pissed me off.

Nonetheless, we had a heart to heart today and I believe she has forgiven me because she allowed me to caress her fur and take a few pictures of her while at it.

Has your pet ever been disgruntled towards you? What are some of the ways you handled the situation?
