The anime that I never get bored of waiting for the movie is Detective Conan, the first detective genre anime that I watched as a child until now, I always wait for the newest movie. Unlike other anime, the Detective Conan anime routinely releases movies every year, and I always look forward to its release because the interesting story with complex problems means that Detective Conan The Movie never gets boring to watch.
I just finished watching Detective Conan The Movie 26: Black Iron Submarine, and in this post, I will review and give my personal opinion after watching it, if you don't want spoilers in this post, you can watch the film first, then come back to this post so we can discuss.
This movies tells the story of Detective Conan, Ai Haibara, the police, Interpol, and the FBI, who are faced with terror from the Black Organization which is the main enemy in this film's story. Edogawa Conan, Ran, Professor Akasa, Ai Haibara, Detective Mori, and three little detectives were invited by Suzuki Sonoko to watch the Pope at Hachijo-Jima. At the same time, engineers from all over the world gathered to test the "Pacific Buoy" which is the latest security facility being tested by Interpol, and the Japanese police were invited to see firsthand how the system works.
Conan sneaks onto a ship headed to the Pacific Buoy to investigate the murder case of a Europol agent and his connection to an agent named Pinga, who is a member of the Black Organization and may be on the Pacific Buoy, this security facility uses AI technology that can identify and match someone from all existing CCTV footage, essentially this is a system that can track individuals who look younger than their real age. The Black Organization succeeded in stealing the Pacific Buoy system by kidnapping one of its engineers, Naomi Argento, who was the head system developer at the facility. Not long after Naomi was kidnapped, a member of the Black Organization found Ai Haibara from CCTV tracking results and matched her with Haibara's previous identity, namely Sherry, who was thought to be dead. Ai Haibara then became the target of kidnapping by the Black Organization because she, who was initially thought to be dead, was still alive, and the organization had to immediately eliminate Sherry.
Conan realized when Haibara was kidnapped, and immediately wanted to chase her, but Agent Pinga managed to escape with Haibara by jumping his car into the sea and then being picked up by the organization using a submarine. With the Pacific Buoy technology obtained by the Black Organization, they were able to remove traces of Naomi's kidnapping at the facility, then they removed the traces of cars and submarines recorded on CCTV, this made it difficult for the police and Interpol to find traces of the Black Organization. Conan, who had been chasing them as hard as he could but didn't realize that the Black Organization agents had managed to escape by getting into the submarine with Haibara, Conan couldn't contain his deep feelings of annoyance and Professor Agasa also felt sad because Haibara couldn't be saved.
Different from the previous film, this time the antagonist role that Conan and the others have to face is the Black Organization, making the story in the film The Black Iron Submarine more emotional and tense because the agents of this organization are so skilled in carrying out their actions. It took Interpol and the police a long time to reveal how Naomi was kidnapped, not to mention sometime later, one of the engineers on the Pacific Buoy mysteriously died in the canteen.
Conan slowly discovered the hidden puzzle of all these events, when he returned to the Pacific Buoy with Ran and Detective Mori it finally began to be revealed that there was an agent from the Black Organization who was disguised as an Engineer on the Pacific Buoy, and it was revealed that Pinga was the perpetrator who killed Leonhardt, she disguised herself as Grace to act and Conan used Detective "sleep" Mori to reveal that the Black Organization agent was the mastermind behind Naomi's disappearance and Leonhardt's death.
One of the things I like about this film, apart from the more tense story, is that in my opinion, the animation produced this time deserves to be appreciated. Even though there are several scenes that I think are boring, the characteristics of Detective Conan like the sophisticated tools made by Professor Agasa, and the unreliable detective Mori are always present in every Detective Conan the Movie. Hopefully, next year the story presented will be even better and more thrilling, especially if Kaitou Kid is brought back as an Anti-Hero who helps Conan fight his enemies, maybe I will be even more excited.
