Let's Take Care of our Feet

in #hive-1280952 years ago

The vast majority of us do, in fact, have feet, and they are probably two items on our body that we quite often take for granted.

If you're much like me you only ever give thought to your feet when they're sore. Not even necessarily dirty; my feet get washed with the gravity-based run off water from my shower. Only occasionally, in times of particular grime, will I actually make a point of cleaning them.

@dswigle pointed out to me that August 17 is National I Love my Feet Day. If ever there was a time to hold a celebration, this seems like it!

If you've ever worn a poor-fitting pair of shoes you'll know how miserable you can feel when your feet are feeling miserable. History is abound with footwear. Roman soldiers insisted on good footwear. And this Austrian boy was thrilled with a good pair of shoes:

Let me know how you take care of your feet. Do you bathe them? Get them massaged? Sleep with your feet up on multiple cushions? Pedicures? Perfume them? Walk on hot coals to loosen them up? Or just let your dog lick between your toes to clean out the lint, dirt, and fallen crumbles of food?

This isn't a contest. I suck at running contests. It's just a query. Drop a post in the Feet community with how you spoil your feet. Let me see your feet and how you spoil them!

Yeah, taking care of our feet is really necessarily cause some have foul smell. I'm not sure why or where it develops. Usually, I take care of my feet massaging it and soaking in a lukewarm water with some oils on it.

Great reminder!

Soaking feet in warm water with some epsom salt is apparently quite relaxing. My son does that routinely. I'm suddenly wondering about doing that tonight. Hmm.

Scrub at every shower and moisturize after drying off, being a person who lives in open footwear feet need a little extra TLC.

Mode of transport that we should respect !LOLZ

We really should respect our feet! I go as far as to putting on socks when I know I'll be on them a lot. Maybe a foot massage will be in the cards soon!

Foot spa in the home is a treat, any time you feel like a treat plug it in and enjoy, you will find the whole family start taking interest.

Feet!!! I baby them! I get a foot massage, a sheer delight, manicure to paint them just right. Loofa and oil - I know! I am spoiled!

You are spoiled! Looking at that picture reminds me of the beach. I do not get to it much, and I don't actually get onto the beach itself that much when I'm there, but it's comfy to stick bare feet into it and let the heat relax them.

I definitely don't take enough care of my feet although when I'm sitting, I sometimes roll my feet over a tennis ball which can be relaxing once you get passed the tickling sensation!

Oh, that sounds quite relaxing in fact! Damn, I sit all day, I should try that.

Make it happen and let me know how you get on!

yes..we have to keep our feet clean, we have to cut our nails when they start to get long, remove dirt from under the nails.
so that nails look beautiful.

A feeties.jpg

I take reasonable care of my feeties. They've carried me a long ways and have some mileage left to go. I generally take my feet with me when I travel-this photo is taken outside a general store at the intersection of Oregon 402 and 19.

If it sounds a little obscure, it is. I was sorta on my way to the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument but I didn't take the most direct track to get there.

I wash my feet every shower because I live in a sand environment. Sand between my toes makes me crazy. Also, this time of year my feet get stained on the bottom because I spend so much time barefoot and with flip flops. They will turn pink on the bottoms again about November :)

One of the very best things I do for my feet is wear these boots almost every day. They provide good support and protection and have a sole that I can comfortably walk in. A 5 toe rating as it were.

Good shoes are a necessity! Just ask that Austrian boy in the picture. Anyone who has ever gone a full day with shoes that don't fit or feel well will attest how miserable they feel afterward.
