Hello everyone, welcome to my blog as I make my entry to this week's social media challenge. Unlike my usual entries where I talk about my battles, this time I want to share my thoughts on the new updates that will be implemented come the 2nd of April 2024. First let's talk about what to expect.

The new updates focusses on the introduction of a new splinterland token called Glint. This will be an in game currency players will earn after victorious battles which will have a host of possibilities and uses. Currently, every battle that you win rewards you with reward points but the new update will replace this with the Glint token.

Similar to how the reward points are earned, Glint will be earned in the same way where you will earn more depending on how high your rank is. Other modifications will come into play but one thing that stands out is that, wild league players will earn 50% of what players in the modern league earn. Meaning if a player who battles the silver league in modern earns say 1000 Glint, a player who battles in the silver league of wild will earn 500 Glint. Of course, your staked $SPS balance will be one of the factors that determine how much $GLINT you earn.

Currently, players earn loot chests in the form of daily focus chests and season chests but the new updates will replace that. Instead of earning loot chests, players will have access to a reward shop where they will use the Glint tokens earned to purchase rewards.

This reward shop that will be introduced will host a wide range of rewards players can choose from. There will be Soulbound reward card draws, potions, energy, merits and limited edition titles. These will be made available immediately but there are more items that will be added in the future.

First of all, I find the updates interesting and will like to see exactly how this will pan out. To have the ability to purchase the rewards I want with the Glint earned seems interesting though it takes away the anticipation of having to wait for 24 hours or 15 days to see what you have in the chest. It would also allow us players to have control of what kind of rewards we prefer.

What I do find not so interesting is the difference in Glint earned in the wild and modern league. I get that it is being done to make bot users have a disadvantage but for non bot users like me who like to play more in the wild league, it's not ideal.

Conversion of gladiators to DEC will no longer be possible

Another update I am not so hyped about is the fact that burning your gladiator cards will no longer have the option for DEC. It's going to be limited to only Merits. Seeing that the gladiator cards are bought with merits, it seems rather odd to burn them back to merits though, some may see burning it back to merits will give you a chance to earn different gladiator cards. We'll have to see when the update is implemented.

Despite these two major concerns I have, I still think the updates will generally be a welcomed one. I hope it works out fine and gives us an even better playing experience.

I think the newly introduced splinterlands token called glint will actually be a very nice idea and I'm also looking forward to seeing it being implemented.

Also thanks for the explanation.
