in #hive-1205862 years ago

Hi Hive friends.

How are you?

Today I want to sharing a delicious and easy-to-make Timphan cake recipe. Timphan is a typical Acehnese dish with a delicious filling called asokaya or from shredded coconut. But, I personally prefer the asokaya filling. Usually, this cake is served on Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha.

To make timphan, we first need to prepare the following ingredients:

Ingredients for flour dough:

  • White glutinous rice flour

  • 100 ml coconut milk

  • 200 gram ground pumpkin

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Ingredients for the asokaya filling:

  • 5 eggs

  • 600 ml coconut milk

  • 1 teaspoon white glutinous rice flour

  • Pandan paste to taste

  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Additional Ingredients

  • Banana leaf

  • Edible oil

How to make the asokaya filling:

  • Blend 5 eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla until smooth.

  • You can adjust the sugar to your taste

  • Pour the egg mixture into a pan, add 600 ml coconut milk, 1 teaspoon white glutinous rice flour, and pandan paste to taste.

  • It would be better if you blend the pandan leaves as the color will be better than using pandan paste.

  • Glutinous rice flour serves to thicken the asokaya filling.

  • Stir well and cook until thickened.

  • Set aside.

Next we will make flour dough:

  • Clean the pumpkin and cut into small pieces. Boil the pumpkin with 100 ml coconut milk until soft, don't forget to add salt to taste.

  • Mash the pumpkin until smooth, then leave it to cool.

  • Mix the white glutinous rice flour little by little with the mashed pumpkin, knead until the dough is smooth and can be shaped.

How to make timphan:

  • Prepare banana leaves that have been cut into rectangular shapes.

  • Apply oil on the inside of the banana leaf to prevent the dough from sticking to the leaf when it is cooked later.

  • Take the flour dough, flatten it, then add the asokaya filling.

  • Roll the dough and fold the banana leaf tightly.

  • Repeat the process until the dough runs out.

  • Arrange the timphan in a steamer with water underneath.

  • Steam for 30-45 minutes until cooked.

  • Remove the timphan from the steamer and serve.

Timphan is ready to be enjoyed

Well, that's the easy and delicious timphan cake recipe. Good luck!
