Hey there! 🤗 I am @yhubee.
It's HiveopenMic week 205 and I am glad to participate in this week's contest.
My rendition for this week is Colbie Caillat's song titled *"Try""
I love this song because of it's didactic language. This song encourages self-confidence. It promoted the importance of self-worth and being who I am regardless of what anyone's opinion could be
A lot of people do feel peer pressured and it evolves to having low self-esteem. I once had a friend in my circle who used to feel body shamed. She virtually complains about everything concerning herself. Anytime she comes up with this issue, I try to talk her out of it by telling her that she's perfect the way she is. Yes!
One of the things I dislike is comparing oneself with another and by extension, I hate it if anyone tries to do that with me. My family and those around me know this quite well.
Caillat in her song shows that no matter how you try to meet up with the standards that others set up for you, the more you weigh yourself down.
Sharing this song with you is my way of telling you that you should believe in yourself. Never let others define who you are or should be. Have confidence in yourself.
You are Beautiful 🤭
You are Strong 🤩
You are Courageous 💪
You are Loved ❤️
You are Enough
You are You
Besides You there is no other YOU
Lyrics
"Try"
Put your make up on
Get your nails done
Curl your hair
Run the extra mile
Keep it slim
So they like you. Do they like you?
Get your sexy on
Don't be shy, girl
Take it off
This is what you want, to belong
So they like you. Do you like you?
You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing
You don't have to try, try, try, try-i-i
You don't have to try, try, try, try-i-i
You don't have to try, try, try, try-i-i
You don't have to try
Yoooou don't have to try
