When I saw the Vibes announcement saying that this week's theme was Disney, I thought: "this is not for me". But then I remembered that our most important Venezuelan salsa singer, Oscar D'León, sang the Spanish version of a Disney song, The Emperor's New Groove.
Something I hadn't thought of was that if the song Oscar sang was a salsa, the original song in English must also be a salsa. So I decided to investigate and I had the immense surprise and joy of knowing that Tom Jones was in charge of the English version and, to tell you the truth, I was amazed.
Another information that I liked was to know that the song was composed by Sting, in its lyrics, as well as the music, which he did together with David Hartley.
For those who already know my salsa project, it is clear that one of its objectives is to show that salsa can be sung in any language, so this came to me like a glove.
So the next step was to find a way to get the track without the vocals and start practicing the lyrics in English, not an easy task for this song. But finally I took the determination and here I bring you my version of "Perfect World".

Cuando vi el anuncio de Vibes diciendo que el tema de esta semana era Disney, pensé: "esto no es para mí". Pero luego recordé que nuestro cantante de salsa venezolano más importante, Oscar D'León, cantó la versión en español de un tema de Disney, Las Locuras del Emperador.
Algo que yo no había pensado era que si la canción que cantó Oscar, era una salsa, la canción original en inglés también debía serlo. Así que decidí investigar y me llevé la inmensa sorpresa y alegría de saber que Tom Jones fue el encargado de poner su voz en la versión inglesa y, la verdad, quedé maravillado.
Otra información que me gustó fue saber que el tema fue compuesto por Sting, en su letra, asó como la música, que la hizo junto a David Hartley.
Para los que ya conocen mi proyecto de salsa, está claro que uno de sus objetivos es mostrar que la salsa puede ser cantada en cualquier idioma, por lo cual esto me vino como anillo al dedo.
Así que el siguiente paso fue buscar la manera de conseguir la pista sin las voces y empezar a practicar la letra en inglés, tarea nada sencilla en esta canción. Pero finalmente tomé la determinación y aquí las traigo mi versión de "Perfect World".
