Hello makers and creators of Hive!! I hope you had a lovely weekend. It was pleasant outside for this time of year, which makes me dream of springtime. Luckily, we will still have plenty of 20s and 30s degree Fahrenheit if not colder for the next couple of months, so these leg warmers will come in handy.
In a previous post I had mentioned that I was knitting a second pair of leg warmers. The first pair pictured above I knit several years ago and they had received some repair work lately to fix some holes. It seemed like the right time to knit a second pair.
I am trying to be more mindful of knitting a test swatch, so here it is. I only had two skeins of the yarn I bought years ago, so the swatch is small. At least I made one!
While I love working on double pointed needles, it takes a few tries to make sure that the first row isn’t twisted.
I actually CO 72 stitches onto one of the needles and the transferred them over to the four afterwards. It is recommended to use a size larger for the cast on but I just tried to not pull too tightly. My cast on was the long tail version. It is familiar and has enough stretch for this project.
Once I got a few rows knitted, I was happy to just knit away at the easy K2, P2, repeat pattern.
I bought this yarn YEARS ago and am glad that it has a purpose. My goal these days is to finish the projects I have as well as find projects for the yarn in my stash.
I love how easy this project was and the practical aspect of it as well. It gets pretty cold here in Kansas. Last year we had a week of negative degree days and nights. One night it got down to negative 20 degrees Fahrenheit. It was a little depressing to say the least.
But today it is sunny and 70 right now. The windows are open and life is good.
Thanks for stopping by and I always love your comments! God bless and be well!
