Hello hivers❤, I will be putting us through cross contamination and how to prevent it in the kitchen. Cross contamination is an act of transferring bacteria and microorganisms from one substance or object to another. This can occur when we are careless during production in the kitchen which can lead to food contamination.

Cross contamination in the kitchen can occur in many ways and can also be transfered in different ways.it can be transfered from people to food, from equipments to food and food to food.we should try and possible to always label all the containers in the kitchen to avoid mixed up and also to prevent using of a single container for different items.

These are some label items in my kitchen

WAYS FOOD CAN BE CONTAMINATED IN THE KITCHEN

i. From equipments to food:This can occur when our kitchen utensil like pots, spoons, kitchen knives e.t.c are been unkept.while production is going on, all the equipment that will be used during the process must be neat and clean.because if any of the dirty equipments should have contact with the food it will contaminate the food and definitely leads to food poisoning.and also a particular equipment should not been used on various product without been washed, either unfinish or finished
Product.

ii. From people to food:This occur in the kitchen when the food handlers e.g The chef, cook, kitchen assistant e.t.c. are not hygienic enough during the Production or after the product has been made. The kitchen workers should always make sure that there hands are always clean and been washed thoroughly with soap and water from time to time, there uniform must be clean and neat at all times, never cough into the kitchen atmosphere without covering your mouth, wash your hands immediately after coughing e.t.c.All this must be done at all times by the kitchen staff and food handlers in order to avoid food contamination and food poison.

iii. From food to food:This occur in different ways also, either by adding unwashed perishable to food on process, adding spoilt food to fresh food e.t.c. This can contaminate the food and make it unsafe for consumption/food poisoning.we should always make sure that the perishable is well washed with vinegar water before adding to the food, And also make sure that whichever food we are adding to the fresh food is still okay and have not over stayed (more than two days).

HOW TO PREVENT CROSS CONTAMINATION IN THE KITCHEN

  • The kitchen equipments must be clean and neat always before and after use.

  • Particular equipment must not be used for various product at a time.

  • The food handlers hands must be clean and neat at all time, and must be washed frequently with clean water and soap.

  • Cover your mouth when coughing in the kitchen.

  • Thorough washing of our perishable items with vinegar before using.

  • Do not add over stayed or spoilt food to the fresh ones.

I am not sure how this is a #MarketFriday? @yusufkenny Here are the guidelines. I upvoted you anyway.

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.
