I loved John Wick 4 so much I mean it focused more on character closure without losing its touch of being a John Wick film. After the first John Wick movie I’d have to say this is the second best of them out there and I'd give it 8/10 rating if I’m honest. I don’t know what some of my friends were on about when they called this movie “mid” or “normal”. It’s nothing like that. But then again, action movies aren’t really their cup of tea so I understand why that was their reaction.
Action was solid as always, and is what you come to watch John Wick for. I do think that a little more suspension of disbelief is needed in this film compared to its predecessors. Seeing John Wick survive falls from mighty high staircases and buildings and survive was a bit hard to believe. Especially when his enemies went through the same ordeal and died. But I loved the scene where he started using the Dragon’s Breath shotguns, and whenever he was employing gun fu and doing karate takedowns it was super cool to see.
One thing I wasn’t expecting was for them to pay more attention to the story. I think one thing they nailed and rang more true to the beats of the first movie was creating memorable characters/scenes. In the first John Wick it’s clearly a revenge story, and everything is based on building up the image of John Wick as this legendary boogeyman/hit man that you should never mess with. In John Wick 4 Caine was a really good character with a solid backstory to go with him, and it really made me think about how they were going to treat his character in the end. Cause he has a daughter he cares about so it would be hard to watch if he died and left her alone. But at the same time we also have John Wick who seeks freedom, and we don’t want really him to get killed either. So when these two are forced to face off, it’s very interesting how they handled it in the ending. Plus Caine was quite funny at times. I loved it when he told the Marquis to F off
Also I do not think this needs a sequel. I honestly don’t know why they’re planning to make another one. This was the perfect ending for Wick and his story is done.
Also if you guys watched John Wick 4 and you loved the guy who played Caine (Donnie Yen) he actually has a lot of really good action movies under his belt and has been a star in Hong Kong for some time. His most famous film is Ip Man
