The OTHER Primarch franchise of Imperial Battle Tanks.

My Reviews are behind - I might be posting a lot in quick succession.
Hey everyone. If you check my blog recently, then you will see that I spent quite some time in the hospital and this ended up with an eventual surgery. The surgery went well and I am on my way to full recovery.
But I have fallen behind on my 40k Reviews. I know I won't earn much from posting many posts in one day, but I would really just like to get all the reviews done for these factions before I am too late and the Indexes are replaced by the Codex entries.
I want to be able to analyze what is lost and what is gained.
I am back at home from the hospital and I am basically laying on my back. I can at least sit/lay and blog and catch up where I can.
Even though I am posting a lot and the main focus is to post, not earn, I will not switch earnings off. This is part of a Hobby Fund and Fund Raiser so those that want to upvote me are welcome to!
Fund Raiser - Helping a friend with funding for a Wedding!
This post is part of the current Fund Raiser where a friend has given me an offer to buy a collection of Warhammer models, the money will go to putting down deposits for his wedding arrangements.
After that I have two other hobby debts to sort out.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
The total remaining is $481.5!
Every bit counts!
Back to the review.
Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
611 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #241, I am 370 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)
Astra Militarum, Rogal Dorn Battle Tank
10th Edition Index
The Rogal Dorn Battle Tank takes its name from the Imperial Fists Primarch, Rogal Dorn, much as the Leman Russ, is named after the Space Wolves Primarch. There are more vehicles in the Astra Militarum that are named after epic heroes but those I think are in the Imperial Armor books.
The Rogal Dorn Battle Tank, unlike the Leman Russ, comes with but one Datasheet. They are halfway between a Leman Russ and a Baneblade and quite points heavy so you won't be fielding many of them at a time in a 2000pts game.
They are tough and have a lot of guns. I already have my favourite options locked in! Haha!
They are 240pts to field and cost $105.
Let's check its stats.

Thoughts
Right, firstly Ablative Plating, not a difficult rule to understand, but one that take practice to use. I have an enhancement that allows me to do the same in my Ironstorm army. You need it when the enemy managed their first 5-6 damage hit on your tank, after that, it is done. Using it for 1-3 wound damage when you have 18 wounds is foolish.
The only other time to use it is to prevent the tank from becoming bracketed. That is when the tank is 1-6 wounds remaining, then it is a good cause but you really ought to have used it before this already.
As for weapons my favourite loadout is the Opressor Cannon and Co-Axial Autocannon and the Pulveriser Cannon! Heavy Bolters and 2x Additional Heavy Stubbers.
This to me would to the most damage.
I suppose if I had a second or third Rogal Dorn Tank(I have none now) then I would kit one out with Twin Battle Cannon, Castigator Cannon, 2 Meltaguns and 2 Multi-Meltas and charge that one into the thick of things while my other tanks cover it.
Overall it is a BEAST of a tank. T12 alone will make wounding it so much harder and only S13 and above can really crack it. This means the trusty Lascannon only has a 50% chance to hurt this tank! Amazing!
That makes 52 Astra Militarum Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 85.24% Completed. The total Completed is 26.31% Complete! Can I review them all?!
Thank you for reading!
