This is Hive. It is a blockchain based social media and I think that you should at least open an account on it and save your passwords, even if you do not use it right away.
If I were you, I would poke around a little every day and see WHY I say the following to you:
"You should be on here rather than any other social media."
You should do this for several reasons. Let me briefly list them:
- Hive is decentralized, a blockchain. One big corporation does not own your personal/business social space.
- You OWN your content. Your pictures and words. Embedded on to blockchain. Forever. You can easily reference back to the post you made and it can be verified in the background regarding its creation. It is yours. And what is yours is protected on Hive.
- True content by people. In comparison to my feed on Facebook, which is mostly trash and ads, Hive is full of real content created and shared by real people.
- There are rewards. A lot of people on-board new users with THIS hook first and foremost. It is definitely why I am on Hive and stay on Hive, but for a new new newbie, you are not going to see massive rewards immediately. However, you will see after poking around that it is damn easy to make something, whereas you would have made nothing elsewhere.
- Unlimited potential. On Hive, there is space and ability to create Dapps, which are apps, which run on the blockchain. You can create front-end log-ins for your community, application, game, etc. There is a LOT of depth to Hive and the great thing about Hive is that if it has not already been created - then you can create it!
- Let me say that again: If it's not on here already - you can create it! This means that you can create communities(groups), and even applications if you really wanted to, to suit your needs in a social media.
Now Imagine!
Imagine for a moment that your friends and family were already on Hive.
Your content is your own and the algorithm does not bend your feed to view ads and propaganda.
Interactions between you and others generate a crypto currency in the form of two tokens: One token giving you more stake and ownership of the decision making on the blockchain, the other giving you a stable-coin that is valued the same as Dollars.
People are MUCH more friendly on Hive than elsewhere because there is a real monetary and reputation repercussion if someone breaks community rules.
Imagine for a moment that your private/small business is on Hive.
You can post content/advertise your products and services and be rewarded for it. You can reward customer's comments/reviews/questions on a blockchain. If your company is based on integrity and truthfulness, then this is the place to be.
Why not sooner?

There is no central agency. No advertising. So there is no paid-for shoving this concept under your nose.
Also, do you think that THOSE companies would want you to have your own freedom? HAHAHAHA!
No.
Self ownership, freedom of speech, scalability, rewards for interactions.
Go ahead and create an account. Save the keys you get, only you can retrieve your account since there is no central agency.
