Today is Orthodox Easter. I wish I could spend it with my family, in my hometown. But this is not the best time to travel, for several reasons. I have 3 days off, and the prospect of spending them at home alone upset me a lot. So I called my volunteers to offer any help. Suddenly, they invited me to spend Easter with them in a very nice place. Could I resist?
Saturday was spent trying to buy food for picnic. Due to the problems that occurred in the largest local bank, it was possible to pay only in cash, which I had little. So I spent a long time looking for a supermarket with working POS-terminals or a working ATM.
When I came home, Nick called and said he can spend Sunday at home. This was a most wonderful news, to spend Easter with him and our friends, outdoors.
After an endless season of cold, clouds and rains, spring has finally showed up. I couldn't sleep in the night, which isn't a surprise for me anymore, but I was looking forward to a good day. The weather was just perfect. I noticed a tree is blooming in our yard and was surprised why I didn't see it earlier.
A true early spring weather. Hot in the sun, and cold in shadow.
Traditional Ukrainian Easter bread, and eggs. This is a must-have minimum. Obviously, there were A LOT of other delicious meal - salads, grilled vegetables, meat and potato. Honestly, outdoors and in the company of friends, even simple food is very tasty.
Nat sent me a lot of pictures of her Easter today. It was so sweet that they made pictures and videos especially for me 💗 It all reminded me those days when I spend Easter with them every year...
Someone grabbed this magic mattress with styrofoam filling. It's perfect for picnics, when you have a big car.
Nick had a sleepless night too, and it sounds like a good idea to take a nap in a thin shadow of tree branches. Or at least to stretch the back and legs.
To say the truth, we were prepared to air raids all day and some other bad things to happen, but the day was quiet here. Only in the evening, the air raid was started over all country...
As always, we pray for those who fight for us, who are wounded or in captivity, or in the occupation, or were forced to leave their homes. And so that we all have the strength to defend our country.
You probably miss this little lady :) Sonya says hi!
Sometimes it was almost like the good old peaceful days. Almost. But I am so thankful for this wonderful chance, and a lovely day.
And thankful to you for all support and care and willing to help. Appreciate your beautiful Sundays 🙏 🌞
