Hey folks!!!
I finally made it, and can't wait to see you tomorrow! The thought of this and of seeing the sea helped me get through the exhausting 26-hour journey.
Delay, delay
Our train from Kyiv to the Polish city of Chełm, near the border, departed at 19:57, and that was the only thing that happened on schedule.
It was an hour late arriving in Chełm, and we would have missed the train to Warsaw, but it was also delayed by 100 minutes.
I dreamed of a morning coffee and a wonderful breakfast in Warsaw. Besides, I don’t like eating on the train, nor do I enjoy coffee or tea from disposable cups.
But due to the delays, my first coffee was when the people around me were already drinking beer or wine.
We walked around the old town a bit, and I really liked it here. I took a lot of pictures, but none on my phone. So, the photo report will have to wait until I get back home.
From the old town, we headed to the airport. The flight to Split was supposed to arrive at 20:10, and we hoped to have dinner somewhere by the sea or in the old town and stroll along the promenade...
But the flight was delayed by 1.5 hours.
We had no check-in baggage but we lost some time looking for a taxi, and by the time we finally reached the apartment, it was half past ten at night. We headed straight to the nearest restaurant, but it was closing in 20 minutes. So was the next one. The supermarket closes at 8:00 PM on Sundays.
Oh well. We had to have dinner with dry cookies, washing them down with wine presented by the host as a welcome drink, which turned out to be quite fitting.
After that, considering the sleepless night on the train/bus (as the border crossing, passport, and customs control happen during the night), we all slept soundly.
Only to wake up to the sound of construction, which, as it turns out, is happening right outside our window.
I was really hoping to find peace and quiet in Croatia, since in Kyiv, there's an air raid alert and explosions every night. Oh well... can't be helped now.
To escape the noise of the construction work, we fled to the sea. There's wind and a slight rain here, but we’ve been waiting for this for so long...
Rain is getting heavier!
A great opportunity to train positive thinking 🤪🤪🤪
