Have You Had Your WEDNESDAY WALK? Welcome to Lairds Loch - Nature Reserve in Blairgowrie, Scotland

in #wednesdaywalk2 years ago

Hello, Wednesday Walkers and @wednesdaywalk community.

Hey, I am Danaidh B from Scotland, and I just LOVE walking! Especially with my dog "Shirley" who will be 2 years old in August this year 2023.

So, today I would like to share with you my "Love and Appreciation" of Nature on what is My "1st Ever Post on Wednesday Walk"

(Please take a few moments to answer the questionnaire at the bottom of the post. Thank you) :)

"This is 'Lairds Loch' in Scotland (please read the sign)

Shame about the pointless graffiti tag(Borek??)

Having a dog keeps me very fit and healthy and gives me so much more reason to go out walking every day!

Walking is something that is self-perpetuating for me, where "Once I start, I can't stop!"

Until... I stop here and my jaw drops in Awe (every time) at this Beautiful Landscape that is pretty much right on my doorstep.

These fallen trees provide essential habitat and food sources for all the cute little toads you are about to see. (Common Toad in UK / "Bufo Bufo")

It's hard to tell what going on here but there are actually 3 males fighting for a position on the female's back. They will do this for sometimes days at a time. He clutches onto the female to tire her down so then he can mate with her. His pure feat of strength and dedication wins her approval and they will have many many toad tadpoles or "toadpoles" as I like to call them.

This is a Coot, or 'Mud' Hen "Fulica Americana". They can basically run on water, it's insane! I tried to get some shots of it but they are so fast. If you ever go to this beautiful sight please look out for them running on water! It's amazing. It would be great to get a slo-mo of this happening as well.

Just look at this little guy, he looks muscley and bold and stood nicely for me to get a good shot of him. We know it's a 'he' because he is lighter in colour, and the females are bigger and darker (from the pictures above).

Nice to have you join the Wednesday walk and what a wonderful walk such a beautiful area

Yes We have similar wildlife near me, I often hear the frogs but seldom see them
I do love nature walks whenever possible walking in nature or on a beach is my preference over anywhere else
Tough to pick but i think 4203 is my favorite photo

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk, Sorry last week was a bit rough for me and I not only did not get out for any walks, but also was not able to visit all the walks from last week, but feeling better this week and visiting posts again which is always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks

Ah I see what you mean now 👍 4203 gotcha haha.

Thank you :)

This was also one of my favourites. The colours and hues of the wild landscape 🫶🏼

👍🙂👍
I loved the tone of all your images a nice golden feel to them

Thank you for your feedback :) I was going for a slightly cold and moody look on some of these, nice that they appear golden to you.
I have autism and slight synesthesia symptoms so I tend to see colours and depth perception a bit differently from what others see, which is kinda cool because we will all get to see something different!

MY grandson has autism and from him I have learnt a lot in fact a co workers two boys also have autism and he said to me many times that is is sure I was Autistic but it was not diagnosed back when I was young
He said he saw in me ay traits and how I saw things in a different way like his sons, so it got me interested to learn more about it

and yes I think the way you see things different is something that you should rejoice in

That’s interesting that people mention it to you, it is a very broad spectrum and has all sorts of ways of showing itself.

I believe it’s simply the original and purest form of thinking, more in touch with our roots and our instincts. There is a mass consciousness that has been diluted over thousands of years and I believe Autism etc was what we all “were” and, lived and thought, it was/is normal, not a condition we “Have”

I feel it is a superpower in many ways :)
Haha

Yeah I thought so I sometimes wonder if people are too busy trying to classify things that are a little different from the norm to make themselves feel better

I like your though that it is a superpower :)

Aw yeah man, same with adhd, they say I “have it”, or it has me, haha, nah I just enjoy many hobbies and interests all at one time!

They call it “got my fingers in all the pies” 😂 love that!

I do love pies too though…

Thank you very much for viewing this post :) I had a great walk that day and there’s always so much to see!

These toads here were making the coolest little squeaking noise, didn’t see any frogs though.

Which photo is 4203? Not sure which one that is..

No problem, yeah I’m always out on walks and taking photos, what better place to talk about them in than here :) @wednesdaywalk

Life is short and busy my friend, do what you can when you can :)

Thanks

it is the one in the forest the file name under the photo is DSC04203.jpg

Thanks 👍 yeah I forgot I could open them up haha.
