Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. Most of us may not be aware of some major happenings or events around the globe that took place on this day many years ago. I will therefore take us round the globe in a giffey to have a look at some of those historical events that took place on this day, sunday the 21/10/2024 in history.

We begin today from Sweden. Do you know that on this day in 1833, Alfred Nobel, a Swedish chemist, engineer, and manufacturer who invented dynamite and other more stronger explosives and established the Nobel Prizes, was born in Stockholm.

From Sweden, we move over to the United States of America. Do you also know that on this day in 1960, John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon debated for the fourth and last time before to the 1960 Presidential election in the United States.

From the USA, we move over to the world of literature. Now, on this day in 1940, Ernest Hemingway, an American novelist, published the famous novel For Whom the Bell Tolls, which was later made into a renowned film.

From the world of literature, we move over to the world of television personalities and enterpreneurs. Do you know that on this day in 1980, Kim Kardashian, an American television celebrity and entrepreneur who rose to international prominence through her personal life, which was extensively documented on the famous reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians (2007-21), was born in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.

From the world of television personalities and enterspreneurs, we move over to Israel. Now, on this day in 1949, Benjamin Netanyahu, an Israeli politician and diplomat who has been Prime Minister of Israel three times (1996-99, 2009-21, and 2022-), making him the longest-serving Prime Minister since Israel's independence, was born in Tel Aviv [now Tel Aviv–Yafo], Israel.

Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in from Cuba. Do you know that on this day in 1925, Celia Cruz, a Cuban-American singer who reigned for decades as the "Queen of Salsa Music," captivated audiences with her beautiful voice and rhythmically engaging manner, was born in Havana, Cuba.

My good people, that will be all from me today. Let's do it again tomorrow.
