Ā Ā Ā This week's featured ASEAN Hiver is a hasher, but this is not a hashish dealer despite it being legal in Thailand. No, "hashing" basically combines running, comradery, and drinking, but not necessarily in that order. Think trail running though, because hashing involves running improvised trails that are mostly offroad, and I dare say a bit of orienteering is involved.
Ā Ā Ā Take a look at a few of his blog posts and you'll see that this activity is quite entertaining, both as a participant and as a reader. There are hijinks, silly prizes, nicknames, punishments, lots of laughs, and it makes me think something like this would be cool to do in Cambodia, but landmines are still a thing here.
Ā Ā Ā Chiang Mai was my original destination when I traveled to Southeast Asia in 2010, but I never made it there, spent only a few nights in Thailand, and felt compelled to head towards the Cambodian border. I enjoy learning about this place and seeing the sites through this guy's blog, and I do hope one day to visit Chiang Mai. This man is also a generous delegator and longtime ASEAN Hiver supporting our grassroots community since it's early days.
Ā Ā Ā I enjoy a little humor when looking for a blog post to read, and no doubt I always hear some funny stories from their offroad adventures, whether it be about someone getting lost in the woods or throwing themselves in the river like in the above photo. It's quality over quantity with this content creator, so I try and make time to read every post he shares, and I have never not been entertained and interested.
Ā Ā Ā Did I mention that is not him in the post thumbnail image? Haha, I am not sure he has ever shared an image of himself with us, so I used a little AI to whip up a drinkin' runner.
