What Am I Talking About?
We are usually a continuum of a being spread between our strongest self and the weakest one. Circumstances, events, feelings, or experiences make us who we are, but who we are is not a never-changing verdict, but rather a point in our life. This point can change whenever we want it to, but the sad part is we don’t realize that change is possible.
If I were to, for the sake of argument, call our strongest self, He-Man, and the weaker one, Adam, then our work of changing ourselves has to be focused on Adam and not He-Man.
What Does That Mean?
It means He-Man is already the evolved side of us and one that shows us in the strongest light, in our strongest moments. Every one of us is a He-Man, the one who can conquer anything. Go back and think of that moment when you achieved something, you got an accolade or you were cheered on. How did it feel? Like He-Man? 😊
So, this is not where our work is. This part of us is already strong. This part of us is already powerful. But this part of us does not show up for long, let alone permanently. Our work therefore is to bring out He-Man and make him stay. If that’s the case then what do we work on?
We work on getting Adam to bring out the sword at Castle Grayskull more often.
Adam | Get the Sword Out
This means, He-Man is always within us, but not summoned enough. Why? Because Adam is overwhelmed with the situation, issues, or problems. Adam does not see the sword as the option to be used in the situation. Adam dials down and becomes the victim of the situation.
Now, isn’t this what happens with most of us? We bow down to the situation forgetting that the sword exists. We then are driven by the situation and no longer capable of handling the situation, let alone driving it. And then it becomes a habit.
This sword is symbolic of our prayer, good vibes, positive thinking, or the never-say-die attitude. Whichever fits best. It is prayer for me and it could be different for different people. The issue is we do not see the sword as an option when that is the most potent weapon we have. We are blinded by our problems, situations, or issues, and yet none of them are mightier than the sword; none of them are mightier than us.
So, who do we work on? Adam? Yes, that’s who we work on. And we work on making Adam strong enough to pick up the sword every time. So many times, that it does not make sense for He-Man to go away. We work hard till Adam becomes He-Man. That’s what we do. At least, that’s what I will do.
Remember, He-Man is just a sword pull away!
