Red Foxes, Banteng, and Crocs | theHunter: COTW

Hello and Welcome back to my blog!

I have been hunting a lot in the Tea Field on the Emerald Coast, Australia map and finding a lot of success, especially with the Red Foxes.

No wonder this map gives you a new weapon which specifically covers lower-class animals like these Foxes. But even though they are class 2 animals I tend to shoot them with my class 4-8 7mm rifle. Not always though.

This one was trying to get away from me so I had to take the shot from behind. I expected it to run for a long distance before dropping dead but seems like even this new weapon is powerful enough to take them out without hitting a vital organ. I kinda ruined a nice Gold trophy there.

Even though most of the regions are arid that's not the case with this part. It has a lot of lakes and greenery.

But no one was drinking at these water bodies during my visit. Maybe it was bad timing.

There are many Axis deer and Javan Rusa in these parts of the map too but these buggers are good at sensing danger and they run away. This one got away even after taking a shot.

These failed shots make me lose patience and I tend to use high calibre weapons even for smaller games like those foxes. The game punishes you for these overkills and you lose trophy ratings, xp and some cash. That's still better than no kill...right?

I had to make sure I got a quick kill on this one so I used a 7 mm. I was in no mood to track the blood trails. A perfect lung shot is satisfying.

During these encounters, I found some more Axis deer and even a Hog deer but all of them had tough angles and they were already fleeing or traveling to other places.

On the other side of the map, Banteng roams freely and some of them are very aggressive. This poor female came after me but that was its last attack.

Fortunately, dodging them is pretty easy. If multiple of them come after you, then it can be a tricky affair. One at a time is very easy.

It was just a Bronze trophy and later I found another Bronze female as well. Looks like all the big males were hiding somewhere.

Me and Sheru chased down a group and got a few more Banteng. Two of them were Silver with no Gold among them. We were really unlucky with the trophies with Banteng today.

We were on the beach and took out a few Crocodiles as well. They were particularly aggressive today but just like the Banteng none of them were Golds. This session will be remembered for quantity over quality.

Hunting these Crocodiles on the coastline is fun and easy at the same time. I wish they were more aggressive than they currently are... it would make the game a bit more interesting. Animals should be much more aggressive on this Australian map...right? Everyone should come after you lol.

There were some hunting stands that I came across which I built but these seem to be useless in these plains. Yes, they help in concealing your presence but in this map, it doesn't make much sense, especially in open and wide fields like this... and more so for the ground blinds. They don't even give you a higher elevation.

Even with some slight issues like these and the lack of more aggressive animals, this map is still one of my favourites. Crocodiles, Banteng, and Kangaroos are aggressive and never shy away from picking a fight. But they don't pose much threat to you.

It was a busy session with me getting a lot of kills giving me loads of XP and Cash. I will spend some cash on setting up camps near hotspots for easy travelling and quick hunts. But these are quite expensive and I have to kill many animals per camp purchase.

Thanks for reading...

Until next hunt...

Wow what a nice game It teaches us on how to hunt

Hello, my friend. I think the rifling set of the rifle is very effective. I would love to have this rifle. 😄
Deer are very sensitive to sound. The game is very realistic at this point. It was a productive hunt, my friend.
I hope you can kill more and buy more camps. Success 😅

I didn't know you could choose specific weapons for specific animals in this game. I just thought that you have a sniper and hunt with it. Anyway, I just love how realistic the graphics of this game is. ENJOY!

I really like PC game but I don't have PC so I can't play PC game. 😕

is that animal a cow or a bull?

Banteng are wild cows

I ask because I do not know and I am very curious, depending on where you hit the shot or how many shots you give that affects the valuation of the captured prey? I find it very interesting and I would like to understand it better.
Have a good week and have a great hunt.

Each animal has a trophy range (say for crocodile the Gold is 760 points, Diamond trophy is 1050). Now, Bronze, silver, Gold and diamonds are the trophy level in the game.

When you spot an animal you can see what its trophy range is. Let's say I saw two crocs one says 450-600, the other is 920-1050). I will go for the second one. And upon killing it the game tells you its exact trophy. So, let's say I killed it and it turned out to be 1000 points only. This will give me Gold only when I meet these three conditions:

  • A vital organ hit, like: Lungs, heart, liver, neck and brain

  • Using proper calibre weapons/bullets/arrows

  • Not damaging trophy organ: But Crocodile have no specific trophy organs like Horns, antlers etc so this condition is not required for crocodiles.

If I don't meet those conditions I will get one lower level trophy. So, if I failed to shoot a vital organ, instead of Gold, I will get Silver only.

Well, there's something I'm curious about. When you shoot a crocodile, where on its body do you have to hit it to get 3 stars?

There are three conditions for getting the maximum trophy from an animal.

I aim for lungs as they have the biggest surface area and relatively easy to hit than other organs like neck or liver.
