So today I watched a documentary about plastic surgery in South Korea. I don't watch documentary much, but sometimes they are so interesting. I think I should watch documentary more, and I should really take my dad's recommendation.
In the video they said that a district in Seoul, South Korea, there was like a street that is full of plastic surgery clinics. They also interview a few people, some of them are plastic surgeons, costumers, and people who helped clinics got their costumers.
What I Learned 📄
It is so normal for people both young and old to get plastic surgeries, and it become somewhat friendly. It is like going to get medicines at a pharmacy here. There are also a lot of people who killed themselves because of the beauty standard in South Korea. To be pretty in South Korea is too have big round eyes, V-jawline, slim chins, small face, and things like that.
There were a lot of successful surgeries but also failed ones. I gotta to say people who have failed plastic surgeries looked worse than their original face. Some people have so much plastic surgeries that they look unreal, like aliens or ai almost. I get it that some people got plastic surgery because of medical reasons, but those are the small percentage of people who got plastic surgeries.
My Thoughts 💭
Also not only Korean people got surgeries but also other people. A great amount of them are from China, Japan, and other countries. I gotta to say when you see Chinese people on social media, they look unreal. Some are because of filters, make-up, and of course plastic surgeries. I heard that there is a thing in China where you take like a bone from some parts of your body, and attach it to your legs and arm to make you taller and skinnier.
I don't really know anyone who got plastic surgery, but I think my mom's ex sister-in-law got like a chin surgery. I am not a 100 percent sure, but I heard my mom said that her ex sister-in-law got one. My mom also said that sometimes her chin looks a bit droopy or swallowing. Most people who got plastic surgery here are mostly celebrities and rich people, and my mom's ex sister-in-law is pretty rich.
Kids at my school also try to follow Korean trends such as filters, products, skincare, skin whitening, and other stuff. Some of my classmates think that Korean beauty standards are desirable, while some think it is insane. Here in Cambodia it's mostly girls and women that use skin whitening products, but boys also use them too. I think almost all of my female classmates use skin whitening products and even take beauty pills.
