Hi all, welcome back!
My run today got my weekly total to 54.9KM from the 80-90 km I intend to run this week.
I decided to go for a fun paced HM distance run, in which I tried to stay below my lactate threshold. For me that means keeping my heartbeat below 162 BPM.
As my goal is to improve my running economy I did not eat before or during the run, I did load up on some carbs and drinks right after - but felt good!
The hotspots on my left feet did turn into smaller blisters, so will decide tomorrow on giving them some time to heal or do a light recovery run.
Progress:
Heartbeat quite low can speed it up a little.
the 154 BPM is just below my marathon racing pace (156-158) so here my benefit towards energy efficiency is optimal
at 14.7KM I had to slow down a little to stay in optimal heartbeat zone.
finished todays run with average of 150 BPM
As this is my second peak week, I will cut down on the milage starting next week to give my body some time to heal and I will need to restore some fluids. As I do not intented to race the marathon I also won’t go for a full taper, I intend to stay around 60km until the marathon.
Happy running!
